The belief that one gender is superior to the other and must maintain that status. This most often surfaces in the belief that men are better than women and must keep up with their powerful positions.

Power and benefits over others in society. Privilege may come about as a result of race, socioeconomic status, language, gender, or membership in other groups.

Groups of people that have little to no societal power, are subservient to another group or are silenced. Oppressed groups may include marginalized people.

A system based on individual achievements and personal merit should warrant higher rewards. For example, a person who achieves at a higher level deserves greater financial rewards based on their own personal merits and hard work.

Being assigned to a position that is not generally accepted by the general population or a part of the mainstream.

People who were forced to emigrate to a new country against their will due to outside circumstances.
