The boarding schools listed below are highly selective schools that usually get more applications than the space available for students. For these schools, the normal acceptance percentage is 25% or less; however, the rate is different for some schools because the applicants are highly scrutinized and unqualified candidates are eliminated before the admission process is completed.

1.            Choate Rosemary Hall

Choate Rosemary Hall is a large school that operates a co-educational system, and it is located in Wallingford, Connecticut. It provides excellent academics, an I.M. Pei-designed arts center with about 32 sports and alumni including prominent persons like Adlai Stevenson, President John F. Kennedy and Edward Albee.

2.            Deerfield Academy

Unlike Choate Rosemary Hall, Deerfield Academy is a small co-educational school found in Central Massachusetts. The school keeps students busy with 71 clubs/extracurricular activities, 22 sports and it offers few classes, about 19 AP courses. However, Deerfield still has a strong community environment, and it willingly offers financial aids.

3.            Georgetown Preparatory School

As a Roman Catholic all boys school, Georgetown preparatory offers great academics highlighting 24 AP courses with all the necessary extracurricular activities to make the program interesting for students. The number of day students is higher compared to boarders, and this could be because of the location of the school. The school is located in the nation’s Capitol, just over the DC line in suburban Bethesda, Maryland.

4.            Groton School

This school started out as an Episcopal school for boys. From the very beginning, Groton has always been a small school with great results. Curtis Sittenfled recently set her novel prep at Groton school. Its first African-American student was accepted in 1951. This was done a very long time ago before integration became popular.

5.            The Hotchkiss School

This is a very selective boarding school, but if your child is qualified enough to get into this school then he/she is sure to get the best academics with a variety of athletic and extracurricular activities. The school is located in New York City, just 2 hours north of this city, making the school easily accessible from anywhere in the world.

6.            The Lawrenceville School

This school is an amazing institution in various ways. Though, the school didn’t admit girls not until 1987, but now it doesn’t just admit girls, it has a female headmaster. Because the Lawrenceville school is located midway between Philadelphia and Newack, different travel options are made available. Also, you can find Princeton University just a few miles up the road.

7.            Middlesex School

This school has been around for almost 110 years and these past years, Middlesex has successfully recorded outstanding achievements. Frederick Winsor believes that this school is different from other religious schools of its day. Middlesex school was and still is a non-denominational school.

8.            Milton Academy

As a co-educational day school, Milton was founded in 1798. For 100 years, the school operated as a mixed school but at some point, boys and girls were set apart, following the trend of that time. Things are now back to normal as the school is operating a co-educational system again. In the 21st century, diversity is a major part of Milton Academy. The motto of this school is “Dare to be true,” and its ability to stand by these words is an important aspect of Milton’s success.

9.            Peddie School

Peddie is highly selective, so you need to have all its requirements before you are admitted. Once admitted, you are entitled to enjoy interesting academic courses, a nice art campus, a loaded arts program and of course, some of the best sports programs.

10.          Phillips Andover Academy

The reputation of Andover in the 21st century lies in the clarity of its Latin motto, meaning “Not for self.” Educating children to be mindful of their responsibility to help people both far and near clearly shows Andover’s understanding of globalism and community service. Phillips Andover Academy is one of America’s best preparatory schools. However, the admission standard is quite high, but if you have what it takes, do not hesitate to send in your application.Visit the school if you can and impress them.

11.          Phillips Exeter Academy

This school only offers the best. Although the school is over 200 years old, it still addresses the hearts and minds of the 21st century youths with such newness and relevancy which is just amazing. The school has this philosophy that aims at connecting goodness with learning, and this ideology permeates the teaching and famous Harkness method with its interactive teaching style. It has the best staff. Your child will enjoy some awesome, highly qualified and committed teachers.

12.          St. Paul’s School

St. Paul’s was founded as a school in a country setting design. Over the years, this design has been of great help to the school as 2000 acres of land has enabled the school to expand while still maintaining its simple surroundings. St. Paul’s school was one of the first schools to play ice hockey, starting back in the 1870s.
