Using Software for Making Learner Service Manageable in K-12 and Higher Education

Learners often do not understand the importance of the various learner services that are available at their schools. Counseling and career coaching services can be challenging and expensive to operate, but software makes managing learner services easier and more manageable.

There are plenty of technologies and software solutions out there that can contribute to a more successful learner services system and make them more manageable. We’ll be discussing some of the core learner services that every school should have and how software improves them. Read on for more.

Career Counselling

Attending a workshop in career counseling at a university is an ideal way to explore your skills, assets, and motivations, as well as the careers that you would be a good match for. Career counseling is beneficial for learners who are unsure of their direction and purpose.

It can help you discover new options you may not have thought of and decide on a career pathway. The careers center at your university can also help you apply for jobs, search for internships, and more.

Most online tests on the internet can help you find a career or give you some guidance on a career path. There are also plenty of counseling apps, most of which are open source and free to use.

Campus Healthcare

Most universities worldwide offer medical services to learners on campus, with flexible appointments, walk-ins, telephone consultations, and healthcare professionals dedicated to treating learners. Whether you’re suffering from the flu or want some advice about contraception, your campus medical facility should provide you with doctors that put you at ease.

Some programs help keep records of patients who visit the campus healthcare department, making bookkeeping and organization much more straightforward. These records can also be pulled up with ease to make repeat visits much more efficient.

Language Center

Putting extra language on your resume will significantly improve your employability and increase your likelihood of employment after you graduate. Many universities have language centers that help foreign learners learn the local language and affordably help all learners learn another language.

Specific software exists specifically designed to help you learn a new language. Take Duolingo, for example. It’s a free app that can be downloaded on any mobile device and used anywhere. Lessons are bite-sized and straightforward, and you can take them at your own pace with a little encouragement from the Duolingo Owl.

Conclusion

As tech becomes an integral part of education, it will make certain learner services more manageable and accessible. All educational institutions should be using software to improve the quality of their learner services and make them more manageable.

About Us

The Edvocate was created in 2014 to argue for shifts in education policy and organization in order to enhance the quality of education and the opportunities for learning afforded to P-20 students in America. What we envisage may not be the most straightforward or the most conventional ideas. We call for a relatively radical and certainly quite comprehensive reorganization of America’s P-20 system.

That reorganization, though, and the underlying effort, will have much to do with reviving the American education system, and reviving a national love of learning.  The Edvocate plans to be one of key architects of this revival, as it continues to advocate for education reform, equity, and innovation.
