The Learner-Centered Approach to Tech Planning

There are many ways to make a learner-centered approach to planning tech used for education and learning. There are so many technologies available that it is sometimes difficult to decide what to use and which is the best tool. Another problem is how new tech and digital tools become available for use in the classroom.

How to Plan

To plan around learners’ readiness, learning preferences and personal interests is not an easy task. The following are a few ways to use tech planning to suit every learner on their own terms.

The Learner’s Readiness

Putting the learner in the center of what technologies should be used will drastically effect the educator. Many learners are far more technologically advanced than their educators and will know more than the educator about tech in general.

This will force the educators into a specific direction where they will have to become more tech-savvy than they used to be. These educators will also be able to incorporate new tools and technologies into the classroom.

Individualize Learning

The educator should look for digital tools that focus on the gradual development of skills through scaffolding instructions. This will help the learners become active participants in their discovery and development process instead of passively receiving their education.

You want a balance between learner, tech and educator so that the learner’s academic needs are always the primary concern. The following website provides some great insight into this type of learner-centered teaching method for the ultimate implementation.

Make Use of All Tech Resources

For an educator to reach each learner at their own level, it will be necessary to use both printed and digital media. This will allow every learner access to all learning materials to help them in their studies.

To make that perfect learner-centered learning environment, the educator should incorporate all learners proactively in their lessons.

Help When They Need It

Setting up the right environment that helps learners realize their strengths and provides the necessary drivers will take some time. It will also take a lot of trial and error before you can set up the perfect learner-centered learning environment.

You should integrate project-based teaching into your education system and construct opportunities for real-life situations. This should be done in the group setting to learn all the necessary skills, such as collaboration and problem-solving.

Active collaboration can be achieved by making use of digital tools that are available for the educator. A good way for the educator to allow every learner to take an active part in their learning is to use the right tools.

For those educators who strive to improve regularly, see the following website for more info.

Conclusion

Even though it will not be easy to make a truly learner-centered learning environment, it is feasible through hard work. For that, you need the right educator with a lot of patience and determination to make it happen.

About Us

The Edvocate was created in 2014 to argue for shifts in education policy and organization in order to enhance the quality of education and the opportunities for learning afforded to P-20 students in America. What we envisage may not be the most straightforward or the most conventional ideas. We call for a relatively radical and certainly quite comprehensive reorganization of America’s P-20 system.

That reorganization, though, and the underlying effort, will have much to do with reviving the American education system, and reviving a national love of learning.  The Edvocate plans to be one of key architects of this revival, as it continues to advocate for education reform, equity, and innovation.
