Introduction:

ISTE 2019, the international conference for educational technology, showcased a plethora of innovative tools designed to enhance teaching and learning experiences. In this article, we will explore five of the coolest ed tech tools that caught our attention at ISTE 2019. From virtual reality to interactive learning platforms, these tools have the potential to transform education as we know it.

VR Classroom:

One of the highlights of ISTE 2019 was the emergence of virtual reality (VR) technology in the classroom. VR Classroom, a groundbreaking ed tech tool, enables students to embark on immersive educational experiences. By transporting students to virtual environments, VR Classroom allows for interactive learning, making the subject matter come alive. From exploring ancient civilizations to diving into the human body, this tool opens up endless possibilities for experiential education.

Adaptive learning platforms:

Another exciting trend at ISTE 2019 was the rise of adaptive learning platforms. These tools use artificial intelligence to tailor educational content to the individual needs of each student. By analyzing learning patterns and adapting content accordingly, these platforms ensure personalized instruction and targeted support. With adaptive learning platforms, students can learn at their own pace, filling knowledge gaps in a highly efficient and engaging way.

Coding kits:

Coding has become an essential skill in the modern world, and ISTE 2019 offered a range of coding kits designed to introduce students to the world of programming. These kits provide hands-on experiences, allowing students to experiment with coding through tangible objects and interactive activities. From building and programming robots to creating animations and games, coding kits empower students to develop computational thinking and problem-solving skills in a fun and accessible manner.

Augmented reality (AR) apps:

ISTE 2019 showcased several augmented reality apps that aim to bring learning to life through digitally enhanced experiences. These apps overlay virtual content onto the real world, providing students with interactive and immersive educational opportunities. Whether it’s exploring the solar system or dissecting virtual organisms, AR apps make learning a captivating and participatory adventure.

AI-powered tutoring systems:

Artificial intelligence-driven tutoring systems were a significant focus at ISTE 2019. These intelligent platforms employ machine learning algorithms to provide personalized tutoring and feedback to students. By analyzing student responses and identifying areas of improvement, AI-powered tutoring systems offer adaptive instruction and continuous assessment. With real-time feedback and support, these tools enable students to strengthen their understanding and master complex concepts in a more efficient manner.

Conclusion:

ISTE 2019 brought forth a wealth of ed tech tools that have the potential to revolutionize education. From the immersive experiences of VR Classroom to the personalized instruction of adaptive learning platforms, these tools cater to the diverse needs of students and educators alike. As technology continues to advance, it will be fascinating to witness the transformative impact these tools have on the future of education.

About Us

The Edvocate was created in 2014 to argue for shifts in education policy and organization in order to enhance the quality of education and the opportunities for learning afforded to P-20 students in America. What we envisage may not be the most straightforward or the most conventional ideas. We call for a relatively radical and certainly quite comprehensive reorganization of America’s P-20 system.

That reorganization, though, and the underlying effort, will have much to do with reviving the American education system, and reviving a national love of learning.  The Edvocate plans to be one of key architects of this revival, as it continues to advocate for education reform, equity, and innovation.
