Introduction:

Windows 11 has introduced numerous innovative features and improvements, making it a popular OS choice among users worldwide. However, with new updates come unexpected challenges. Many users have reported encountering washed-out colors after updating to Windows 11. This article will explore the top six ways to fix washed-out colors on your system after the Windows 11 update.

1. Update Graphics Drivers:

Outdated graphics drivers can often cause washed-out colors appearing after an update. To fix this, follow these steps:

a. Right-click on the Start button.

b. Click on “Device Manager,” then expand the “Display adapters” section.

c. Right-click on your graphics card, and choose “Update driver.”

d. Select “Search automatically for updated driver software” and follow the prompts.

2. Calibrate Display Settings:

Incorrect display color calibration could also lead to washed-out colors. To calibrate your display, go through these steps:

a. Right-click on the desktop and choose “Display settings.”

b. Scroll down to the bottom and click “Advanced display settings.”

c. Under “Color management,” click on “Color calibration.”

d. Follow the on-screen instructions to adjust gamma, brightness, contrast, and color balance.

3. Change Monitor Settings:

Sometimes, your monitor’s settings could affect color reproduction. Tweaking these settings can improve color quality:

a. Access your monitor’s menu button (usually located near power button).

b: Navigate to Color settings.

c: Adjust brightness, contrast, saturation and other values until colors appear accurately.

4. Adjust NVIDIA Control Panel Settings:

If you use an NVIDIA graphics card, changing its control panel settings might resolve washed-out colors:

a: Right-click on your desktop and click “NVIDIA Control Panel.”

b: Navigate to “Adjust desktop color settings” under “Display.”

c: Set “Digital vibrance” to 50%.

d: Click “Apply” to save your changes.

5: Update Windows:

Sometimes, the issue might also arise from unresolved bugs in the OS. Ensure you have the latest Windows updates installed:

a: Click on Start button, then Settings.

b: Choose “Update & security” and click on Windows Update.

c: Click “Check for updates,” and install if available.

6: Reset Display Color Settings:

Lastly, you can try resetting your display color settings to default:

a: Right-click on your desktop and select “Display settings.”

b: Under Advanced display settings, click on “Graphics settings.”

c: In the “Graphics control panel,” navigate to Display section.

d: Click on “Restore defaults.”

Conclusion:

Washed-out colors after a Windows 11 update can be frustrating, but these six methods should provide you with a solution. Ensure your graphics drivers are updated, calibrate your display, adjust monitor and NVIDIA control panel settings, update Windows if necessary, and reset the display color settings if all else fails. With these tips in mind, enjoy a vibrant display on your Windows 11 system!

About Us

The Edvocate was created in 2014 to argue for shifts in education policy and organization in order to enhance the quality of education and the opportunities for learning afforded to P-20 students in America. What we envisage may not be the most straightforward or the most conventional ideas. We call for a relatively radical and certainly quite comprehensive reorganization of America’s P-20 system.

That reorganization, though, and the underlying effort, will have much to do with reviving the American education system, and reviving a national love of learning.  The Edvocate plans to be one of key architects of this revival, as it continues to advocate for education reform, equity, and innovation.
