The unabridged fiction in myON Classics includes works by authors such as Mark Twain and Charles Dickens

(Minneapolis, MN) February 22, 2016 — myON, a business unit of Capstone and leading provider of personalized literacy solutions in the K-12 marketplace, has added myON Classics collections for middle and high school students to its 10,000-book collection.

The myON Classics collections are available at no cost to all myON customers. These handpicked novels and short stories have withstood the test of time and include titles that have helped shape the culture and education of America. Aiming to reach middle and high school myON users, myON Classic books are complete in their original format, not abridged or condensed in any way.

Titles include The Scarlet Letter, The Raven, Turn of the Screw, The Monkey’s Paw, Metamorphosis, The Invisible Man, Twelve Years a Slave, War of the Worlds, and timeless fiction by notable authors such as Mark Twain, Charles Dickens, Victor Hugo, Jane Austen, Edith Wharton, and many more.

“We are very excited to add so many classic novels and short stories to the myON library as a gift to our dedicated users during our fifth anniversary celebration,” said Todd Brekhus, president of myON. “With more than six million students reading on myON, we are proud to promote literacy and to help foster a lifelong love of reading in so many kids across the world.”

Originally launched in 2011, myON has earned national recognition for its innovative approach to providing students with 24/7 online and offline access to a library of digital texts personalized to match their individual interests and reading levels. In August 2015, the company launched myON 3.0, which includes new student and educator interfaces, advancements in content recommendations based upon individual student interests, Lexile® reading level, gamification, and enhancements to the state-of-the-art monitoring and reporting functions.

About Us

The Edvocate was created in 2014 to argue for shifts in education policy and organization in order to enhance the quality of education and the opportunities for learning afforded to P-20 students in America. What we envisage may not be the most straightforward or the most conventional ideas. We call for a relatively radical and certainly quite comprehensive reorganization of America’s P-20 system.

That reorganization, though, and the underlying effort, will have much to do with reviving the American education system, and reviving a national love of learning.  The Edvocate plans to be one of key architects of this revival, as it continues to advocate for education reform, equity, and innovation.
