Are you searching for independent reader products that you can use with your learners? Check out the definitive list that we made. Who did we miss?

Accelerated Reader 360– This product helps educators increase learner engagement by using personalized reading goals and word class reading materials. Educators no longer must search for close reading practice content as Accelerated Reader has a collection of high interest reading content that is searchable by level, topic, or abilities. Educators can also gain valuable insight by using Accelerated Reader’s reading dashboard, which provides comprehensive data and skill progression.

Children A-Z– Kids can select from a library of eQuizzes, eBooks, and hundreds of developmentally appropriate eResources by using the Children A-Z mobile product. Learners can complete comprehensive corresponding quizzes to enhance their comprehension abilities and use interactive annotation tools that aid in the development of close reading abilities. Children A-Z mobile product is a must-have for children that have access to Raz-Children, Science A-Z, Headsprout, or Raz-plus.

7 Speed Reading– This product can help you become a proficient reader in the English language while eliminating old habits that hold you back. With 7 Speed Reading, learners can learn to recognize large clusters of words and read without first vocalizing in their heads.

Speakaboos – This is an interactive reading product designed for kids ages 2–6. It features real-along highlighting to capture children’s attention and help build early reading abilities. It also features touch screen interactions to engage kids in reading and enhance comprehension. This product is free for a seven-day trial period, followed by the option to subscribe. A wide selection of children’s favorite books is available; the stories have one or all the “read to me,” “read by myself,” or “read and play,” options.

Starfall Learn to Read – Using this product, kids learn to read with Zac the Rat. Each numbered section features a vowel sound and its associated spelling. Kids hear, touch, read, and master sound-spelling through a variety of engaging activities, movies, and songs. The game encourages kids to play and discover while they learn.

Read With Me Fluency – This tool helps train reading fluency in kids. Educators can make content for their class offline or online (both modalities cannot be utilized simultaneously). Content can be accessed on the product, PC, or paper printout. As learners read, they are recorded (audio and video), and the educator notes mistakes and problem words that can be corrected later. The product collects learner data that can be accessed by the educator.

Bookopolis – The Bookopolis product enables users to read and review books online. With help, learners can make accounts and have access to a long list of books to read; books are available for early readers, older readers, and middle school readers. Learners can also have access to books from writers and award winners. Bookopolis also features games to help take some time off the reading.

PebbleGo – PebbleGo is designed for beginning readers in kindergarten through second grade. It provides reading materials in English and Spanish for a broad selection of topics such as animals, earth and space, biographies, and social studies. Materials include text, photos, videos, links to similar topics, printable assessment sheets, and correct citations.

About Us

The Edvocate was created in 2014 to argue for shifts in education policy and organization in order to enhance the quality of education and the opportunities for learning afforded to P-20 students in America. What we envisage may not be the most straightforward or the most conventional ideas. We call for a relatively radical and certainly quite comprehensive reorganization of America’s P-20 system.

That reorganization, though, and the underlying effort, will have much to do with reviving the American education system, and reviving a national love of learning.  The Edvocate plans to be one of key architects of this revival, as it continues to advocate for education reform, equity, and innovation.
