Deciding which college to attend can be a daunting task. For many, it will be the most important decision that they make in their lives. To make an informed decision, you have to consider a lot of variables, such as cost of attendance, financial aid, student-teacher ratio, academics, student life, and more. These factors will either positively or negatively impact the quality of education that you receive.

Do you want to acquire a master’s degree in construction management but don’t know what institution you should attend? Well, if you are as ambitious as I was in my late teens, then you want to attend a top school, instead of an average or mediocre one. Fortunately, we have already done the legwork for you. To help you find the right school for your interests and goals, we’ve compiled a list of 2022’s best master’s in construction management programs.

  1. Columbia University, New York, NY

Columbia University has a master of science in construction administration degree, which equips learners with a broad comprehension of the nuances of the sector. The degree program focuses on commercial and residential building sectors, equipping learners with essential areas of study include cost estimating and project financing, construction methods, human and material resources, and construction law.

  1. Clemson University, Clemson, SC

Clemson University’s Graduate School has a master of construction science and management (MCSM) degree program that has received accolades since its inception in 1986. Key areas of study include construction management research, financial planning and analysis, and construction control systems.

  1. New York University, New York, NY

NYU has a master of science in construction management that provides learners with the skills needed to lead a construction project or business. The curriculum offers technical proficiency, financial knowledge, entrepreneurial skills, and business acumen for success in the construction sector.  Featured areas of study include construction methods and technology, construction financial and cost control, and legal principles and practice.

  1. University of Southern California, Los Angeles, CA

The Viterbi School of Engineering has a master of construction management geared for young professionals with diverse bachelor’s degrees. The degree program covers most of the current theories and practices in construction management. Learners select from one of three tracks: finance; real estate development; or architecture, engineering and construction technology.

  1. Stevens Institute of Technology, Hoboken, NJ

The Schaefer School of Engineering has a master of science in construction management that will groom learners for a career within a major construction corporation. The degree program focuses on mega projects, equipping learners with the skills to lead some of the largest projects in the world.  Core classes include computer applications in the construction process, advanced project controls in the built environment, and construction safety management.

  1. Arizona State University-Tempe, Tempe, AZ

ASU’s Del E. Webb School of Construction has a master of science in construction management degree program that prepares learners to manage the building process. The curriculum integrates knowledge of pioneering technologies, construction principles, and business management to equip learners for leading a variety of construction projects. Classes include construction productivity, advanced procurement systems, and construction company financial control.

  1. Brigham Young University-Provo, Provo, UT

BYU’s Fulton College of Engineering and Technology has a master of science in technology degree program specializing in construction management. The program is designed for experienced construction managers who want to expand their opportunities in the sector. Classes include construction company financial management, trends and issues in managing construction, and construction company human resources.

  1. Louisiana State University, Baton Rouge, LA

LSU’s College of Engineering has a master of science in construction management degree program, which blends engineering, business, and construction management concepts. The program equips learners to manage construction processes effectively while also providing a pathway for people interested in research and academic careers. Classes the study of project delivery, decision-making tools for construction management, and special topics in construction management.

  1. Drexel University, Philadelphia, PA

Drexel University’s College of Engineering has a master of science in construction management degree program that offers the competence and acumen essential for success in the sector. Drexel’s degree program has three concentrations: construction project management, real estate, and sustainability and green construction.

  1. Central Connecticut State University, New Britain, CT

CCSU’s School of Engineering, Science, and Technology has a master of science in construction degree program. The curriculum covers all facets of construction jobs, construction law, risk management, and the methods of project delivery. Classes include the study of construction project development, construction law, and construction risk management.

  1. Wentworth Institute of Technology, Boston, MA

WIT’s College of Professional and Continuing Education has a master of science in construction management degree program that develops leaders in the business sector. The degree program is designed to be manageable for working professionals and is sanctioned by the ACCE.  Learners will take classes that span pre-design through closeout, including business relations and HR management, business finance and investments, and advanced project controls.

  1. Virginia Tech, Blacksburg, VA

Virginia Tech’s Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering has a master of science in civil engineering degree program with an emphasis in construction engineering and management. This unique degree helps learners to develop skills in written and oral communication. Classes include dynamic things in engineering, design of things in engineering, and design of steel engineering materials.

  1. SUNY, Syracuse, NY

The School of Environmental Science and Forestry has two master’s degrees in construction management. Learners in both programs look at the broad environmental implications of the construction process. The degree program’s emphasis is on becoming efficient and environmentally responsible in utilizing materials and integrating current technology into a practicum or thesis.

  1. University of Oklahoma, Norman, OK

OU has a master of science in construction management degree program for learners from diverse backgrounds. Learners can expect to encounter an array of learning methods, including team projects and case studies. Classes include construction fundamentals; research methods in planning, design, and construction; and legal issues in construction.

  1. Thomas Jefferson University, Philadelphia, PA

The College of Architecture at Philadelphia University has a master of science in construction management degree program. The program prepares learners to tackle each phase of managing the construction process. Learners get a practice-oriented comprehension of construction technology, business, architecture, and engineering. Classes include construction estimating and scheduling, construction information modeling, and construction law.

About Us

The Edvocate was created in 2014 to argue for shifts in education policy and organization in order to enhance the quality of education and the opportunities for learning afforded to P-20 students in America. What we envisage may not be the most straightforward or the most conventional ideas. We call for a relatively radical and certainly quite comprehensive reorganization of America’s P-20 system.

That reorganization, though, and the underlying effort, will have much to do with reviving the American education system, and reviving a national love of learning.  The Edvocate plans to be one of key architects of this revival, as it continues to advocate for education reform, equity, and innovation.
