Reading aloud to children is a wonderful way to foster a love for books and learning. With the advent of technology, YouTube has become a valuable resource for finding engaging read-aloud videos that can be enjoyed in the classroom or at home. Here are some of the best read alouds on YouTube that are perfect for both educational environments.

1. Storyline Online: Storyline Online is a popular YouTube channel featuring well-known actors reading children’s books aloud. With high-quality videos and captivating storytelling, this channel offers a wide selection of books suitable for various grade levels. From classics like “The Snowy Day” to modern favorites like “The Bad Seed,” Storyline Online has something for every student.

2. KidTimeStoryTime: KidTimeStoryTime is a fun and energetic YouTube channel that focuses on interactive storytelling. With colorful animations and lively narrations, this channel brings books to life, making them engaging for young learners. The channel also features educational discussions and activities related to the stories, enhancing the learning experience.

3. Brightly Storytime: Brightly Storytime is a YouTube channel dedicated to promoting literacy and a love for reading. Their read-aloud videos feature a diverse range of books, including picture books, chapter books, and non-fiction titles. The channel also provides reading tips and resources for parents and educators to support reading development.

4. PBS Kids: PBS Kids is a well-known provider of educational content for children, and their YouTube channel offers a variety of read-aloud videos. These videos often feature beloved characters from popular children’s shows, such as Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood and Sesame Street. The familiar characters, combined with entertaining storytelling, make these read-alouds engaging and enjoyable.

5. Epic: While not a YouTube channel, Epic is an online library app for kids that offers a vast collection of books. The app includes read-aloud options for many of the books, allowing children to follow along as they listen. Epic is a great resource for both teachers and parents looking for high-quality read-aloud material.

In conclusion, YouTube provides an abundance of read-aloud videos that can enhance the reading experience for children in both classrooms and homes. Whether it’s through channels dedicated to read-alouds or apps like Epic, these resources help instill a love for reading and foster a deeper understanding of stories.

About Us

The Edvocate was created in 2014 to argue for shifts in education policy and organization in order to enhance the quality of education and the opportunities for learning afforded to P-20 students in America. What we envisage may not be the most straightforward or the most conventional ideas. We call for a relatively radical and certainly quite comprehensive reorganization of America’s P-20 system.

That reorganization, though, and the underlying effort, will have much to do with reviving the American education system, and reviving a national love of learning.  The Edvocate plans to be one of key architects of this revival, as it continues to advocate for education reform, equity, and innovation.
