A new webinar and guide offer school and district leaders instructional best practices and funding information heading into the summer months

(SALT LAKE CITY, Utah) February 23, 2021 — To help schools and districts face the academic and financial challenges brought on by COVID-19, early education nonprofit, Waterford.org, is offering two new resources to help leaders navigate CRRSA Act ESSER II funding.
“Schools and districts around the country are dealing not only with learning loss but also with funding challenges,” said Benjamin Heuston, PhD, the CEO of Waterford.org. “With this webinar and guide, we’re providing educators and leaders with insight and support to help them recover from this challenging year and prepare their students for a brighter future.”

The webinar, “Transforming Your Approach to Address Learning Loss,” which took place on February 18, featured Dr. Kandace Bethea, the superintendent of Marion County Schools (SC), and Charles Dinofrio, president of Lehigh Valley Children’s Centers, discussing the possible impacts of learning loss and how educators can make a difference. Topics included best practices, plans for the future, and an introduction to Waterford.org’s new guide to accessing CRRSA Act ESSER II funding.
Created to help school and district leaders take advantage of new funding that is available to limit learning loss, “Your Guide to the CRRSA Act ESSER II Funding: Claiming Your Cut of $54B to Counteract the COVID Cliff” is available at no cost on Waterford.org’s website. For educators looking to find what funds are available to their state and district, the guide answers essential questions including:
● What is ESSER II?
● How much is available to my state, district, or territory?
● What can the funds be used for?
● When can the funds be used?
● How do local districts apply for funding?
For easy access, the guide also includes links to each state, district, or territory’s guidance to LEAs, so you educators are only one click away from further information.

About Us

The Edvocate was created in 2014 to argue for shifts in education policy and organization in order to enhance the quality of education and the opportunities for learning afforded to P-20 students in America. What we envisage may not be the most straightforward or the most conventional ideas. We call for a relatively radical and certainly quite comprehensive reorganization of America’s P-20 system.

That reorganization, though, and the underlying effort, will have much to do with reviving the American education system, and reviving a national love of learning.  The Edvocate plans to be one of key architects of this revival, as it continues to advocate for education reform, equity, and innovation.
