K12 Insight Adds Flashpoint Alerts to its Cloud-Based Communications Solution

The new feature in version 7.0 of Let’s Talk! instantly notifies school leaders about potential threats and crises

(HERNDON, VA) November 30, 2015 – Technology and research leader K12 Insight today launched version 7.0 of Let’s Talk!, its cloud-based communications solution. The latest version includes a new feature called Flashpoint Alerts, which notifies school leaders of serious potential threats the instant they appear—whether on social media, via e-mail, in conversations with teachers, or through some other channel. This immediate awareness gives administrators much needed time to respond to manageable problems before they become full-on public relations crises.

In addition to Flashpoint Alerts, Let’s Talk! 7.0 includes these enhancements:

New social media streams allow users to monitor, post to, and track all their school-based social media accounts from inside Let’s Talk!, so they’ll always know when parents, students, or community members mention the school.

New notification controls help leaders respond to the needs of their community by tracking the life of each customer concern from the moment it comes into the system to the time when the school or district responds.

Dialogue and dashboard digests give administrators a quick and easy way to take stock of parent and community relations at every level of their school system.

“We created Let’s Talk! because our school partners asked for an always-on solution to help them listen and respond to community concerns,” said K12 Insight’s CEO, Suhail Farooqui. “Education leaders are surrounded by risk, whether it’s a student in crisis or an angry parent lashing out on social media. Timing is everything. With Flashpoint Alerts, school and district leaders are notified the instant a threat appears, in person or online. Now they can plan a response, instead of being surprised when they read it in the headlines.”

About Us

The Edvocate was created in 2014 to argue for shifts in education policy and organization in order to enhance the quality of education and the opportunities for learning afforded to P-20 students in America. What we envisage may not be the most straightforward or the most conventional ideas. We call for a relatively radical and certainly quite comprehensive reorganization of America’s P-20 system.

That reorganization, though, and the underlying effort, will have much to do with reviving the American education system, and reviving a national love of learning.  The Edvocate plans to be one of key architects of this revival, as it continues to advocate for education reform, equity, and innovation.
