How Resilience Plays a Crucial Role In Success

We are all living in fast-paced and stressful times. Thus, it is essential to have a few coping methods to push through the most challenging situations.

Being a high school or college student can be stressful, especially if there are classes that you aren’t that keen on. Not only that, but a lot of professors don’t allow their students to engage in analytical thinking and problem solving that is different from what theory suggests.

This is where resilience is of immense importance, as it will allow you to cope with stress and get through the hardships on your way to that high school diploma or college degree.

How Can You Define Resilience?

According to experts, resilience is a special form of psychological strength that allows you to move through stressful situations to move forward towards your long-term goal. Whether the setback you are currently going through is in your private life or academic life, staying resilient is the key.

Resilience doesn’t ignore the ongoing problems, but it is a way of gathering strength, learning from the issues, and working through them. While your grades will affect your chance to enroll in the college of your dreams, it is crucial to have proper motivation and energy to succeed in your studies.

What Can You Get From Resilience?

As we have mentioned above, resilience doesn’t ignore that the problem exists, but it allows you to look at it from a different perspective. You can’t erase the issue, so the best way to handle it is to face the problem directly and figure out ways that you can come out stronger from it.

Staying “cool” is the main trait of resilient people. You have probably seen people who never get overly anxious or too stressed about their final exam. This doesn’t mean that they don’t care but rather that they see it as a challenge that they can handle.

Can You Build Resilience?

For some people, resilience is a characteristic trait, but that doesn’t mean you can’t build it through practice. There are a couple of crucial factors that affect whether you will cope with ongoing problems or not.

This includes staying positive, controlling yourself emotionally (even when the situation is unfavorable), developing emotional intelligence, and most importantly, not seeing yourself as a victim.

Concluding Thoughts

Resilience is essential for getting through educational hardships, as well as coping with other life problems. Practicing it daily and staying in touch with yourself no matter what happens goes a long way when it comes to overcoming challenges.

About Us

The Edvocate was created in 2014 to argue for shifts in education policy and organization in order to enhance the quality of education and the opportunities for learning afforded to P-20 students in America. What we envisage may not be the most straightforward or the most conventional ideas. We call for a relatively radical and certainly quite comprehensive reorganization of America’s P-20 system.

That reorganization, though, and the underlying effort, will have much to do with reviving the American education system, and reviving a national love of learning.  The Edvocate plans to be one of key architects of this revival, as it continues to advocate for education reform, equity, and innovation.
