Are you looking for digital textbook apps, tools, and resources that you can use with your students? If so, we have you covered. Check out our list below. Let us know if there are any that we missed.

Birdbrain Science Digital Textbooks – This app works like an online science textbook written for multiple reading levels. The comprehensive text ensures that every student in the class understands what is being taught. Automatic feedback shows teachers and guardians the amount of progress made and how much work still needs to be done. Teachers can tailor their classes following the Common Core Standards. The text focuses on vocabulary building and assimilation.

Kytabu – A textbook subscription app developed in Kenya. The app provides access to digitalized versions of all Kenyan textbooks from Standard 1 to Form 4 at rates that are affordable for African families. Kytabu uses machine learning to help provide personalized learning for learners. The learners can access educational content that includes books, videos, audios, tests, as well as exams. A great advantage of the app is that it can be used offline. This is a crucial issue in Africa where internet access is limited and often unreliable.

Perceivant– Perceivant is an app that provides hands-on learning experiences for students in higher levels of education through cutting-edge tools that revolutionize the way a group of students learn and live. It offers a fast and secure cloud-based learning and assessment platform. Perceivant is designed to help counter a nationwide challenge to make textbooks more useful and inclusive for students. Perceivant adheres strictly to the HIPAA and FERPA standards.

Vernier Go Direct® Sensors with Graphical Analysis™ 4 – Go Direct® sensors collect real-time data from science experiments and lab work and connect directly to student computers or mobile devices. Each of the 40+ types of sensors offered by Vernier are all-in-one style sensors that come with software. Vernier also produces textbooks, with experiments designed to complement their sensors for Chemistry, Physical Science, and middle school science. All purchases include the free app Graphical Analysis 4, which helps students create real-time graphs of their experimental data.

About Us

The Edvocate was created in 2014 to argue for shifts in education policy and organization in order to enhance the quality of education and the opportunities for learning afforded to P-20 students in America. What we envisage may not be the most straightforward or the most conventional ideas. We call for a relatively radical and certainly quite comprehensive reorganization of America’s P-20 system.

That reorganization, though, and the underlying effort, will have much to do with reviving the American education system, and reviving a national love of learning.  The Edvocate plans to be one of key architects of this revival, as it continues to advocate for education reform, equity, and innovation.
