Deciding which college to attend can be a daunting task. For many, it will be the most important decision that they make in their lives. To make an informed decision, you have to consider a lot of variables, such as cost of attendance, financial aid, student/teacher ratio, academics, student life, and more. These factors will either positively or negatively impact the quality of education that you receive.

Do you want to acquire a bachelor’s degree in secondary education, but don’t know what institution you should attend? Well, if you are as ambitious as I was in my late teens, then you want to attend a top school, instead of an average or mediocre one. Fortunately, we have already done the legwork for you. To help you find the right school for your interests and goals, we’ve compiled a list of 2022’s best bachelor’s in secondary education programs.

1. Arizona State University, Tempe, AZ

Arizona State University is a large research-driven institution with more than 72,000 learners enrolled in hundreds of academic and professional degree programs. ASU has a BA in English in learners can concentrate in secondary education. This is a fantastic degree for people who want a broad-based education and for people who want to teach English. Coursework includes classes in American and British literature as well as:

2. University of Wisconsin at Platteville, Platteville, WI

The university has many degree programs, though it specializes in the areas of STEM, education, and business. Around 8,000 undergraduate and graduate learners attend UW Platteville. Learners who earn a BA or BS in early adolescence graduate ready to instruct learners from the ages of 10 to 21. Learner can concentrate on one of the University’s licensure concentrations, which contains everything from geography to economics, earth science, physics, psychology, and much more. Classes consist of:

3. Appalachian State University, Boone, NC

Appalachian State University is home to nearly 20,000 learners. Appalachian State offers dozens of licensure, professional, and academic programs. It is a member of the prestigious University of North Carolina System.

At Appalachian State University, learners can receive a BA in secondary education with a concentration in one of six areas: biology, math, chemistry, English, geology, or physics. All paths provide a foundation in secondary education principles, from adolescent development to administrative relations. Graduates from the Appalachian state have gone on to:

4. Great Basin College, Elko, NV

Great Basin College is a part of the Nevada System of Higher Education. Great Basin specializes in technology, business, nursing, and education programs. Great Basin College’s BA in secondary education degree program licenses learners to become teachers in the State of Nevada. Learners work directly with half a dozen rural school districts in the state; they graduate with a concentration in one of the following areas:

5. Clemson University, Clemson, NC

Clemson University is one of the state’s largest institutions with more than 22,000 undergraduate and graduate learners. Clemson is a research-based institution with numerous facilities, projects, and labs available to learners. When learners receive a BA in secondary education from Clemson, they experience a degree program that stresses clinical practice, field experience, and real-life application in addition to  teaching theory and pedagogy.

6. University of Nebraska at Lincoln, Lincoln, NE

The University of Nebraska in Lincoln is the state’s most prominent institution and an important site of research development. Around 25,000 learners attend UNL. The BS in secondary education degree program at UNL is hard to beat. Learners obtain professional mentoring while taking classes on learner development, teaching theory and pedagogy, literacy, and more. Learners can concentrate in one of six areas: business, English and language arts, foreign languages, science, math, or the social sciences. Graduates have gone on to become:

7. Fort Hays State University, Hays, KS

Fort Hays State University is home to around 5,200 undergraduate and graduate learners with another 6,000 studying online. Structured into four colleges, Fort Hays has around 80 academic programs. Fort Hays has a BS in secondary education; learners can double major in education and a field of particular interest.

8. Union Institute & University, Cincinnati, OH

Union has a bachelor in secondary education degree that can be combined with a concentration in English, science, mathematics, or social science. The program prepares learners to help adolescents learn, develop effective lesson plans, and design active learning experiences. Classes include:

9. University of Mississippi, Oxford, MS

The University of Mississippi is known for its strength in business, education, criminal justice, and psychology. Ole Miss is structured in over a dozen professional schools and colleges. The university has

The University of Alabama in Huntsville offers degrees in secondary education and allows learners to specialize in areas of interest. Regardless of which path learners enroll in, they will take foundational education classes such as:
