A bibliography is a list of works written on a particular subject or by a specific author. Adjective: bibliographic.

Also known as a list of works cited, a bibliography may be at the end of a book, online presentation, or research paper. Pupils are taught that a bibliography and correctly formatted in-text citations are crucial to properly citing one’s research and avoiding accusations of plagiarism. In the formal study, all quoted or synopsized sources should be included in the bibliography.

An annotated bibliography includes a descriptive paragraph (the annotation) for each item in the list. In addition, annotations often give more information about why a particular source may be helpful or related to the topic.

APA Versus MLA Styles

There are several styles of citations and bibliographies that you might see: MLA, APA, Chicago, Harvard, and more. Each class is often associated with a segment of academia and research. Of these, the most broadly used are APA and MLA style. Both include similar information but are arranged and formatted differently.
