U.S. Department of Education Announces Additional Participants in 2025–26 FAFSA Beta Testing and New Resources to Support Students, Families, and Institutions

The U.S. Department of Education (ED) has announced the selection of additional participants for the 2025-26 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) beta testing program. This expanded program aims to further refine and improve the FAFSA experience, making it easier for students and families to navigate the financial aid process.
The beta testing phase, which launched in the 2023-24 school year, is designed to gather feedback from a diverse group of stakeholders, including students, families, institutions, and state agencies. This valuable input will be used to streamline the FAFSA application, address any technical issues, and ensure accessibility for all.
Alongside the expanded beta testing program, ED is also unveiling new resources designed to support students, families, and institutions throughout the financial aid journey.
These resources include:
Enhanced online guides and tutorials: Providing clear and concise explanations of the FAFSA process, eligibility requirements, and financial aid options.
Interactive tools and calculators: Helping students and families understand their potential financial aid packages and make informed decisions about their education.
Increased outreach and support: Expanding outreach efforts to reach underserved populations and provide tailored assistance to students with diverse needs.
The Department of Education remains committed to simplifying the financial aid process and ensuring all students have the opportunity to pursue higher education. By expanding the FAFSA beta testing program and offering new support resources, ED is taking concrete steps to make financial aid accessible and equitable for every student.
