Spread the love

Dr. Johnny Woods, a beloved professor at Seattle Central College, isn’t just passionate about his teaching, he’s also a dedicated globetrotter. Every journey he embarks on, whether it’s across continents or within the US, is infused with a unique purpose: to bring back something special for his students and colleagues at Seattle Central.

For Dr. Woods, traveling is more than just a vacation; it’s an opportunity for cultural immersion and discovery. He uses these experiences to enrich his teaching, bringing back fascinating artifacts, stories, and perspectives that breathe life into his classroom. He might return with traditional textiles from a bustling Moroccan souk, a collection of colorful ceramics from a vibrant Mexican village, or even a first-hand account of a historical event he witnessed.

These souvenirs are more than just trinkets; they become catalysts for conversation, sparking curiosity and igniting a love for learning within his students. Dr. Woods often incorporates these treasures into his lectures, using them to illustrate complex concepts, share cultural insights, and inspire a deeper understanding of the world.

His dedication to enriching the Seattle Central community through his travels is a testament to his commitment to education. Dr. Woods believes that learning should be a vibrant and engaging journey, and he goes to great lengths to make that happen for his students. His dedication to travel and his infectious enthusiasm for sharing his experiences have earned him the admiration and respect of his colleagues and students alike. They eagerly anticipate his return from each journey, knowing that he’ll be bringing back a new piece of the world to share with them at Seattle Central.

About Us

The Edvocate was created in 2014 to argue for shifts in education policy and organization in order to enhance the quality of education and the opportunities for learning afforded to P-20 students in America. What we envisage may not be the most straightforward or the most conventional ideas. We call for a relatively radical and certainly quite comprehensive reorganization of America’s P-20 system.

That reorganization, though, and the underlying effort, will have much to do with reviving the American education system, and reviving a national love of learning.  The Edvocate plans to be one of key architects of this revival, as it continues to advocate for education reform, equity, and innovation.
