Sarah Jessica Parker, the iconic actress known for her portrayal of Carrie Bradshaw in the beloved HBO series “Sex and the City,” is often associated with fashion, glamour, and New York City. However, behind the glitz and glamour lies a woman with a profound love for literature and a surprising connection to the world of publishing.

Parker’s passion for books began in her childhood. Growing up in Ohio, she spent countless hours engrossed in stories, developing a deep appreciation for the power of words. This early love blossomed into a lifelong commitment to literacy and a desire to share her passion with others.

In 2014, Parker co-founded the literary magazine “The Swell,” a platform for emerging and established writers to showcase their work. The magazine, known for its eclectic mix of essays, poetry, and fiction, has quickly gained recognition for its high literary standards and its commitment to fostering a vibrant literary community.

Beyond “The Swell,” Parker has actively participated in various publishing projects. She has penned articles for numerous publications, showcasing her insightful perspectives on a range of topics, from fashion and beauty to social issues and personal reflections.

Her commitment to literacy extends beyond the printed page. Parker is a passionate advocate for reading programs, supporting initiatives that promote access to books for children and adults alike. She understands the profound impact reading can have on individuals and communities, empowering them with knowledge and fostering imagination.

Parker’s foray into the world of publishing exemplifies her multifaceted nature. It’s a testament to her love for storytelling, her dedication to artistic expression, and her unwavering belief in the power of words to connect, inspire, and transform. While she may be known for her fashion sense and her portrayal of a fictional fashionista, Sarah Jessica Parker’s story is not just about glamour, it’s about a woman who embraces the power of words and uses her platform to advocate for a world where literature thrives.

In a world often consumed by instant gratification and fleeting trends, Parker’s passion for literature offers a refreshing reminder of the enduring power of words. Her dedication to publishing reflects a belief in the importance of thoughtful storytelling, a belief that resonates with readers and writers alike, reaffirming that there’s more to Sarah Jessica Parker than meets the eye.

About Us

The Edvocate was created in 2014 to argue for shifts in education policy and organization in order to enhance the quality of education and the opportunities for learning afforded to P-20 students in America. What we envisage may not be the most straightforward or the most conventional ideas. We call for a relatively radical and certainly quite comprehensive reorganization of America’s P-20 system.

That reorganization, though, and the underlying effort, will have much to do with reviving the American education system, and reviving a national love of learning.  The Edvocate plans to be one of key architects of this revival, as it continues to advocate for education reform, equity, and innovation.
