Introduction:

With the launch of the latest gaming consoles, gamers worldwide are eager to explore new horizons of compatibility between different platforms. Many have wondered if it is possible to use a PlayStation 5 (PS5) controller on an Xbox Series X or S console. This article will guide you through the process of connecting your PS5 controller to your Xbox Series X or S.

  1. Gather the Required Tools:

To make this work, you will need the following equipment:

– A PS5 DualSense controller

– An Xbox Series X or S console

– A Windows PC (with Bluetooth support)

– Software such as reWASD or Cronus Zen

Note: Using third-party software may go against the terms and conditions of both Sony and Microsoft. Proceed at your own risk.

  1. Install reWASD or Cronus Zen:

The first step is to choose a software application that allows you to remap your PS5 controller inputs for use with an Xbox Series X or S console. Both reWASD and Cronus Zen have been known to work in this scenario. Download and install the program of your choice.

  1. Connect Your PS5 Controller to Your PC:

To connect your PS5 DualSense controller, turn on Bluetooth on your Windows PC, then press and hold the PlayStation button (the PS icon) and Create button simultaneously for about 3 seconds. The controller’s light should start flashing, indicating it is ready to pair. On your PC, click “Add Bluetooth device” and select the PS5 controller when it appears in the list.

  1. Configure the Controller Mapping:

Using reWASD or Cronus Zen, follow the instructions provided by each program to set up the mapping for your Xbox Series X or S console. This step will differ depending on which program you are using, so refer to the software’s documentation or online support.

  1. Connect Your PC to Your Xbox Series X or S:

Now that your PS5 controller is configured to work with your Xbox console through the remapping software, connect your PC to the same network as your Xbox Series X or S. Alternatively, use an HDMI cable and capture card for a more direct connection.

  1. Stream Your Xbox Gameplay to Your PC:

Use the Xbox app on your Windows PC to stream gameplay from your Xbox Series X or S console. Make sure the streaming quality settings are appropriate for your network connection.

  1. Play!

With your PS5 controller connected and properly mapped, you can now enjoy playing games on your Xbox Series X or S using your DualSense controller. Remember that this method relies on third-party software that may vary in reliability and compatibility, so it may not work flawlessly in all situations.

In conclusion, while using a PS5 controller on an Xbox Series X or S may not be an officially supported feature by Sony or Microsoft, it is possible with some creativity and effort. Ensure you follow each step and consult the specific documentation for the software chosen to maximize the chances of success. Happy gaming!

About Us

The Edvocate was created in 2014 to argue for shifts in education policy and organization in order to enhance the quality of education and the opportunities for learning afforded to P-20 students in America. What we envisage may not be the most straightforward or the most conventional ideas. We call for a relatively radical and certainly quite comprehensive reorganization of America’s P-20 system.

That reorganization, though, and the underlying effort, will have much to do with reviving the American education system, and reviving a national love of learning.  The Edvocate plans to be one of key architects of this revival, as it continues to advocate for education reform, equity, and innovation.
