Indianapolis, IN – For a group of eager high school students, the University of Indianapolis (UIndy) campus buzzed with excitement this summer as they participated in the UIndy Summer Success Camp. The program, designed to provide a taste of college life, offered a blend of academic workshops, social activities, and the chance to experience the university firsthand.

Over the course of the week-long camp, students were immersed in a variety of engaging activities. They delved into academic topics like writing, math, and science, led by experienced UIndy faculty members. The interactive workshops provided valuable insights into college-level coursework and helped students build essential academic skills.

“I really appreciated the opportunity to learn about different fields of study and get a feel for what college classes are like,” said Sarah, a rising senior who participated in the camp. “The professors were really engaging and made the material interesting.”

Beyond the classroom, the camp fostered a sense of community and belonging. Students participated in team-building activities, explored the vibrant campus, and enjoyed social gatherings with fellow campers. The program also included presentations from current UIndy students and alumni, offering valuable perspectives on campus life, academics, and career paths.

“It was amazing to hear from students who are actually living the college experience,” said Michael, another camper. “It gave me a real sense of what life at UIndy could be like.”

The UIndy Summer Success Camp not only provided students with valuable skills and knowledge but also helped them navigate the transition to college life. The program offered insights into campus resources, academic support, and student life organizations, empowering them to make informed decisions about their future.

“We aim to create a welcoming and supportive environment where high school students can explore their interests, build confidence, and gain a sense of belonging within the UIndy community,” said Dr. [Name], Director of [Program]. “The Summer Success Camp is an investment in their future and helps them make a smoother transition to college.”

As the camp concluded, students left with a wealth of new experiences, newfound confidence, and a clearer understanding of what college life holds. The UIndy Summer Success Camp provided a valuable stepping stone for their future endeavors, and many participants expressed their excitement about potentially joining the UIndy community as future Greyhounds.

About Us

The Edvocate was created in 2014 to argue for shifts in education policy and organization in order to enhance the quality of education and the opportunities for learning afforded to P-20 students in America. What we envisage may not be the most straightforward or the most conventional ideas. We call for a relatively radical and certainly quite comprehensive reorganization of America’s P-20 system.

That reorganization, though, and the underlying effort, will have much to do with reviving the American education system, and reviving a national love of learning.  The Edvocate plans to be one of key architects of this revival, as it continues to advocate for education reform, equity, and innovation.
