Global Classroom Engagement Provider, Vivi, Launches New Student Feedback Tool

At ISTE 2019, the wireless screen mirroring company will unveil features including on-the-fly formative assessments, student polling, and student well-being checks

(MELBOURNE, Australia) June 20, 2019 — Vivi, the wireless screen mirroring solution designed exclusively for the classroom, has launched a new Student Feedback Tool to support real-time student-to-teacher feedback. The easy-to-use tool is included at no additional cost in Vivi’s comprehensive classroom engagement solution, which uses screen mirroring technology to foster and maintain active student participation in lessons, while supporting teachers with the implementation of evidence-based classroom practices.

With the Student Feedback Tool, educators can actively monitor student engagement while students are empowered to communicate their social-emotional well-being as well as their academic challenges in a safe and discrete way. Teachers can use Vivi’s new tool to differentiate learning based on feedback gathered on the fly, track student growth, identify student learning trends, and gather information to inform their teaching.

“The new Student Feedback tool in the Vivi teacher dashboard allows the teacher to gather quick data about student understanding, reflection, or student well-being via an easy-to-create and administer poll,” said Kathy Schrock, an educational technologist and adjunct professor at Wilkes University. “The poll feedback responses can take a few forms and the data is sent, in real-time, to the teacher and can be shared or not shared with the entire class.”

The Student Feedback Tool enables instantaneous, in-class formative assessment and other feedback using existing lessons and resources, with no pre-class preparation. Polling options include multiple choice, true or false, yes or no, or emojis. The new feature also offers five pre-built student well-being polls and gives educators the ability to create their own polls in the Vivi Central administration platform.

“We created Vivi to enable seamless connections not just between devices and screens, but between students and teachers,” said Vivi’s CEO Natalie Mactier. “We believe our new Student Feedback tool will change the way students provide feedback and teachers assess in the classroom. With so many technology options available to teachers today, we are committed to delivering solutions that are simple to use, require very little training, and work in tandem with existing resources.”

Designed with the collaboration of educators, Vivi’s screen mirroring solution sets teachers free to roam the classroom and interact with students, and enables learners to instantly share their screens with the classroom or small groups for immediate feedback. The Vivi-enabled classroom includes a small, easy-to-hide hardware device; an app for both students and teachers; and an administration platform where administrators can centrally manage user and device settings plus monitor technology adoption and engagement for return on instruction.

The Student Feedback tool expands this ecosystem by allowing educators to:

  • Generate instant reporting through the Vivi app or Vivi Central, with the choice to display results as a bar chart, pie chart, or list of student responses;
  • View a snapshot of the content displayed on the screen at the time of the poll;
  • Choose to share results on the classroom display with students or keep them private;
  • Set up alerts for designated staff members triggered by results of well-being polls; and
  • Create custom well-being reports.

Vivi executives will be showcasing their new tool at the ISTE 2019 conference in Philadelphia from June 23–26 in booth #547. They will also be available for meetings in the PR with Panache! Storytelling Suite at the Hard Rock Café.

Those not attending the conference may request a demo at Vivi.io.

About Us

The Edvocate was created in 2014 to argue for shifts in education policy and organization in order to enhance the quality of education and the opportunities for learning afforded to P-20 students in America. What we envisage may not be the most straightforward or the most conventional ideas. We call for a relatively radical and certainly quite comprehensive reorganization of America’s P-20 system.

That reorganization, though, and the underlying effort, will have much to do with reviving the American education system, and reviving a national love of learning.  The Edvocate plans to be one of key architects of this revival, as it continues to advocate for education reform, equity, and innovation.
