E-learning authoring tools allow educators to spend time re-creating personalized e-learning systems that would work effectively in their own classrooms. Different types of e-learning authoring tools are available in the market. These include:

PowerPoint-based tools: These are add-ins in PowerPoint that works as an e-learning tool. This offers an easy method for educators as they only need to convert PowerPoint presentations into e-learning modules.

Standalone authoring tools: These tools may require lots of time to master because users often need to begin with the preliminary training. Some standalone authoring tools may also need users to have programming skills to create their own personalized training content.

Highly-specialized authoring tools: For educators looking to develop video content or incorporate software simulations, highly-specialized authoring tools are an ideal option.

Cloud-based authoring tools: Cloud-based authoring tools are easy to manage as users can start working immediately after logging in. Although each of these tools comes with its own functionalities, it gives educators the flexibility to create web-styled content.

Some major benefits of using e-learning authoring tools include:

Ability to repurpose existing content: E-learning authoring tools give educators the ability to repurpose all learning materials they currently have, as long as they’re in digital formats. For instance, instead of redesigning an interactive scenario, they can simply modify the existing one and upload it to the e-learning platform.

Anyone can create engaging content: One of the biggest advantages of these tools is that anybody can use them to design immersive and engaging e-learning content. Some e-learning authoring tools are ideal for e-learning course developers without any prior design experience. These tools give them the power to create unique content, interactive learning materials, and multimedia presentations for any subject matter.

Reduced course development time: Most e-learning authoring tools appear with a large selection of e-learning themes, templates, and objects that educators can use to build their e-learning courses quickly. These tools also make e-learning course development possible, especially for professionals who aren’t familiar with coding and graphic design.

Ability to publish the content on different platforms: Most authoring tools let users publish their content on different platforms, from mobile devices and tablets to laptops. Modern learners want information anywhere, anytime, and educators can make this possible via e-learning authoring tools.

Stress-free deployment: E-learning authoring tools allow educators to conveniently and quickly deliver their e-learning course content to all the members of their audience. They can upload the content to different e-learning websites and deploy it on any device or browser.

About Us

The Edvocate was created in 2014 to argue for shifts in education policy and organization in order to enhance the quality of education and the opportunities for learning afforded to P-20 students in America. What we envisage may not be the most straightforward or the most conventional ideas. We call for a relatively radical and certainly quite comprehensive reorganization of America’s P-20 system.

That reorganization, though, and the underlying effort, will have much to do with reviving the American education system, and reviving a national love of learning.  The Edvocate plans to be one of key architects of this revival, as it continues to advocate for education reform, equity, and innovation.
