Founded in 1859, Averett University is a small institution whose main campus is in Danville, a riverside town in southern Virginia. The university boasts another eleven locations throughout the state that cater to adult learners. Students come from 24 states and 20 countries. The main campus boasts a 12:1 student/faculty ratio and an average class size of 12. Undergraduates can choose from over 30 majors; disciplines in health, business, and criminal justice are most popular. When it comes to athletics, the Averett University Cougars play in the NCAA Division III USA South Conference. The school sponsors seven men’s and seven women’s Division III teams.
