5 Unexpected Spots for Google Home & Nest Devices

Introduction:

Google Home and Nest devices have become increasingly popular in recent years, providing users with an enhanced smart home experience through voice commands, automation, and seamless integration with various apps. To optimize the performance of these devices and make the most out of your smart home experience, strategic placement is key. Here are five unexpected places to put your Google Home and Nest devices for best results.

1. In the Bathroom:

Placing a Google Home or Nest device in your bathroom might seem unusual at first, but it can significantly improve your daily routine. Access real-time traffic updates while getting ready for work or school, play calming music during a relaxing bath, or set a timer for your skincare or grooming rituals. Plus, with the humidity-resistant Nest Hub Max, you can enjoy all these features without worrying about potential water damage.

2. In the Garage:

The garage is often a space where hands-on work takes place – tinkering with tools, repairing bicycles or working on cars. Having a Google Home device in your garage allows you to access quick answers to DIY questions and project-related queries without having to get your hands dirty on a smartphone or tablet. Moreover, it becomes much more convenient to set timers, control lighting and music through voice commands when you’re busy working on a project.

3. In the Garden or Backyard:

Outdoor spaces like gardens and backyards can benefit from a smart device like Google Home or Nest as well. Use it to help schedule garden care routines by setting regular reminders for watering plants or applying fertilizers. Additionally, create the perfect ambiance for gatherings by controlling outdoor lighting and streaming music at any time of day through connected speakers.

4. On Stairway Landings:

If you have a multi-story home, placing Google Home or Nest devices on stairway landings can effectively provide coverage across multiple floors with just one device. This way, you can interact with the device from both upstairs and downstairs, controlling smart home features or asking questions without having to move from where you are.

5. In a Walk-In Closet:

You may not think of a walk-in closet as the ideal space for a Google Home or Nest device; however, it can be an excellent addition for helping you stay organized and making dressing up a breeze. By simply asking your smart device, receive instant weather updates or outfit recommendations based on upcoming events in your calendar – all while browsing your clothing options.

Conclusion:

Strategically placing your Google Home and Nest devices in unexpected locations throughout your home can enhance the overall smart home experience and provide more convenience in various aspects of daily life. Try out these five positioning ideas to optimize the capabilities of these devices and make the most out of your investment.

About Us

The Edvocate was created in 2014 to argue for shifts in education policy and organization in order to enhance the quality of education and the opportunities for learning afforded to P-20 students in America. What we envisage may not be the most straightforward or the most conventional ideas. We call for a relatively radical and certainly quite comprehensive reorganization of America’s P-20 system.

That reorganization, though, and the underlying effort, will have much to do with reviving the American education system, and reviving a national love of learning.  The Edvocate plans to be one of key architects of this revival, as it continues to advocate for education reform, equity, and innovation.
