Amusement parks: the land of sugar-coated joy, screaming laughter, and… extreme parental exhaustion. Whether you’re braving the lines at Disney World or a local carnival, the experience is often a rollercoaster of emotions. We’ve compiled 37 tweets that perfectly capture the chaotic, hilarious, and utterly relatable truth about taking kids to amusement parks:

The Line Game:

1. “Waiting in line at an amusement park is basically just a giant, slow-moving, sun-baked lesson in patience. And it’s for them, not me.”

2. “The line for the roller coaster is longer than the line to see the Queen. WorthIt Maybe”

3. “Just saw a kid throw a tantrum because they were in line for the teacups for too long. Me: deep breath sips coffee passes out”

4. “I’m convinced that amusement parks are designed by people who never actually had kids.”

5. “The only thing that’s more exhausting than the rides is trying to herd your kids through the park.”

The Food Factor:

6. “Amusement park food: The only place you can get a $10 hot dog and a $15 bottle of water.”

7. “I’m pretty sure I could survive on cotton candy and funnel cake alone for a week.”

8. “I swear, the smell of popcorn and fried dough is encoded into my DNA.”

9. “My kids are so obsessed with the ‘character’ meals that I’m starting to think they’re just eating for the photo ops.”

10. “I once tried to buy a $50 ice cream cone to bribe my kid into going on a ride. It worked.”

The Ride Experience:

11. “My kids are convinced that every ride is the scariest thing ever invented. My stomach is screaming, but I’m supposed to be brave.”

12. “The amount of times I’ve heard ‘Are we there yet?’ in a single day at an amusement park is enough to drive anyone crazy.”

13. “I’m not sure who’s having more fun on the rides, me or the kids.”

14. “My kids’ favorite ride is the one that doesn’t make me puke.”

15. “I’m convinced that amusement park rides are designed to make parents feel like they’re going to die.”

The Emotional Rollercoaster:

16. “The highs and lows of an amusement park day are more extreme than any ride you could possibly go on.”

17. “I’m pretty sure I’m more emotionally drained after an amusement park trip than the kids.”

18. “The ‘we’re never doing this again’ phase usually lasts about 30 seconds before they start begging to go back.”

19. “Amusement parks are like a test of your marriage. You either come out stronger or you run away screaming.”

20. “I love my kids. But after a day at an amusement park, I need a vacation.”

The Practicalities:

21. “You can’t go to an amusement park without a giant backpack full of snacks, sunscreen, and band-aids.”

22. “The only thing more annoying than the long lines is the sound of the ‘it’s a small world’ song stuck in your head for the rest of the week.”

23. “I’m pretty sure my kids’ entire wardrobe is made up of character t-shirts from amusement parks.”

24. “I’m convinced that amusement park bathrooms were designed by a sadist.”

25. “The sheer amount of walking involved in an amusement park day is enough to make you feel like you’ve run a marathon.”

The True Meaning:

26. “Amusement parks: A place where you can create memories that will last a lifetime, even if it feels like your sanity is fleeting.”

27. “The best thing about amusement parks is seeing the pure joy on your kids’ faces.”

28. “I wouldn’t trade the memories we make at amusement parks for anything.”

29. “Even though it’s chaotic and exhausting, I love taking my kids to amusement parks.”

30. “The magic of an amusement park is real. And it’s contagious.”

The Ultimate Reality:

31. “I’m pretty sure my kids think amusement parks are just glorified playgrounds with more expensive food.”

32. “I can’t wait to see the pictures my kids take at the amusement park. They’ll be the most hilariously blurry things ever.”

33. “I’m convinced that the only reason kids love amusement parks is because of the free cotton candy.”

34. “I’m already planning my next amusement park trip. And I’m already dreading the long lines.”

35. “Amusement parks: Where the rides are for the kids, and the food is for the adults.”

36. “The only thing better than a day at an amusement park is a day at home, on the couch, with a glass of wine.”

37. “I’m not sure what’s more exhausting: Taking kids to an amusement park or trying to explain to them why they can’t have another ice cream cone.”

So next time you’re planning a trip to an amusement park, remember these tweets. You’re not alone in this. And hey, maybe you’ll even get a good story out of it!

About Us

The Edvocate was created in 2014 to argue for shifts in education policy and organization in order to enhance the quality of education and the opportunities for learning afforded to P-20 students in America. What we envisage may not be the most straightforward or the most conventional ideas. We call for a relatively radical and certainly quite comprehensive reorganization of America’s P-20 system.

That reorganization, though, and the underlying effort, will have much to do with reviving the American education system, and reviving a national love of learning.  The Edvocate plans to be one of key architects of this revival, as it continues to advocate for education reform, equity, and innovation.
