  1. The fastest land animal is the cheetah, which can run up to speeds of 70 miles per hour.

2. Penguins have a unique way of finding their mates. They use a special call that only their partner can recognize. 

  1. Elephants are the largest land mammals on Earth, and they have the longest pregnancy too, lasting up to 22 months. 
  1. Dolphins are known for their intelligence, and they can communicate with each other using a series of clicks and whistles. 
  1. The blue whale is the largest animal ever known to have existed on Earth. It can grow up to 100 feet long. 
  1. Bats are the only mammals that can fly. They use echolocation to navigate in the dark. 
  1. The giraffe has a long neck that helps it reach leaves high up in trees. It has the same number of neck bones as humans, but they are much longer. 
  1. The honeybee is the only insect that produces food for humans. It makes honey from nectar collected from flowers. 
  1. Kangaroos are marsupials, which means they carry their babies in a pouch on their belly. 
  1. The black widow spider is one of the most venomous spiders in the world. Only the female of the species is poisonous. 
  1. The chameleon is known for its ability to change color. It uses this skill to blend in with its surroundings and hide from predators. 
  1. The monarch butterfly migrates thousands of miles each year. It can travel from Canada to Mexico and back again. 
  1. The red panda is not actually a panda. It is more closely related to raccoons and is native to the eastern Himalayas. 
  1. The narwhal is a whale with a long tusk that can grow up to 10 feet long. It uses the tusk to find food and communicate with other narwhals. 
  1. The cuttlefish has the ability to change the pattern and color of its skin, making it a master of disguise in the ocean. 
  1. The poison dart frog is one of the most toxic animals in the world. Its bright colors serve as a warning to predators to stay away. 
  1. The axolotl is a unique salamander that remains in its aquatic larval form throughout its life. It can regrow lost body parts, including limbs and even parts of its brain. 
  1. The komodo dragon is the largest lizard in the world. It has a venomous bite and can swallow prey as large as a goat.

About Us

The Edvocate was created in 2014 to argue for shifts in education policy and organization in order to enhance the quality of education and the opportunities for learning afforded to P-20 students in America. What we envisage may not be the most straightforward or the most conventional ideas. We call for a relatively radical and certainly quite comprehensive reorganization of America’s P-20 system.

That reorganization, though, and the underlying effort, will have much to do with reviving the American education system, and reviving a national love of learning.  The Edvocate plans to be one of key architects of this revival, as it continues to advocate for education reform, equity, and innovation.
