13 Rainforest Activities for Students

1. Rainforest Scavenger Hunt: Create a list of rainforest plants, animals, and natural features for students to find and identify in a designated area.

2. Leaf Rubbings: Collect different kinds of leaves from the rainforest and have students make rubbings of them using crayons and paper.

3. Virtual Rainforest Tour: Take students on a virtual tour of the rainforest using online resources or virtual reality headsets.

4. Rainforest Diorama: Have students create a diorama of a rainforest ecosystem, including the different layers and inhabitants.

5. Nature Walk: Take students on a nature walk in a local rainforest or park and encourage them to observe and document their findings.

6. Rainforest Animal Research: Assign each student a different rainforest animal and have them research and present information about their chosen creature.

7. Rainforest Art: Have students express their impressions of the rainforest through various art forms such as painting, drawing, or sculpture.

8. Rainforest Storytelling: Have students write and share their own rainforest-themed stories, focusing on the unique characteristics and wonders of this ecosystem.

9. Rainforest Soundscape: Have students listen to audio recordings of rainforest sounds and create their own soundscape using musical instruments or natural materials.

10. Rainforest Recipe: Introduce students to traditional rainforest dishes and have them prepare and share recipes that feature rainforest ingredients.

11. Rainforest Conservation Project: Assign students a rainforest conservation issue (such as deforestation or endangered species) and have them create a project highlighting the importance of conservation efforts.

12. Rainforest Poetry: Have students write and perform their own rainforest-themed poems, exploring the beauty and diversity of the ecosystem.

13. Rainforest Field Trip: Organize a visit to a local rainforest or a nearby nature reserve, providing students with an immersive and hands-on experience.

About Us

The Edvocate was created in 2014 to argue for shifts in education policy and organization in order to enhance the quality of education and the opportunities for learning afforded to P-20 students in America. What we envisage may not be the most straightforward or the most conventional ideas. We call for a relatively radical and certainly quite comprehensive reorganization of America’s P-20 system.

That reorganization, though, and the underlying effort, will have much to do with reviving the American education system, and reviving a national love of learning.  The Edvocate plans to be one of key architects of this revival, as it continues to advocate for education reform, equity, and innovation.
