Want to spice up your trip to Hollywood with a little coastal fun?

Visit one of the great beaches we’ve listed near Hollywood, California, as a favor to yourself.

Hollywood doesn’t have any beaches, but it is close to many top-notch waterfront attractions.

You may locate a retreat to sate your beach desires close to Tinseltown, whether you’re in the mood for surfing or lazing.

  1. Santa Monica State Beach — North Beach

This broad, sandy, and well-traveled Santa Monica strip, which is home to a historic pier, is brimming with life and entertainment.

Why We Recommend This Beach

Do you need a beach close to Hollywood that is suitable for children?

Then, take a day trip to Santa Monica State Beach’s intriguing side.

This beach town has plenty of things to do for the whole crew, including an aquarium, arcade games, and an amusement park.

Furthermore, did we mention that it is the beach location on this list that is closest to Hollywood?

Expert Tip

Discover the splash pad, breathtaking vistas, and historic pool at the Annenberg Community Beach House.

Families searching for something a little educational can also take lessons or go on docent-led tours.

  1. Will Rogers State Beach

This 6-mile stretch of the ocean, which is tucked away on Santa Monica Bay, has a variety of diversions to keep tourists of all ages entertained.

Why We Recommend This Beach

Without a doubt, one of the best quick beach getaways from Hollywood is Will Rogers.

It’s even the greatest beach in the vicinity for swimming, thanks to the calm waters and low waves.

In addition, it is less crowded than other fashionable and lovely beaches in the county of Los Angeles.

Expert Tip

On this public beach, there aren’t many dining options.

To prepare for your visit to this waterfront site, we advise that you pack a picnic basket, food, and drinks.

  1. Santa Monica State Beach — South Beach

This beachside hangout offers a variety of amenities and is located to the north of the popular Venice Beach.

Why We Recommend This Beach

The south side of Santa Monica is bustling with activity.

Along with the Original Muscle Beach, it has sport courts, picnic spots, and kiddie playgrounds.

You can also locate Hotel Casa del Mar and Shutters of the Beach here as you explore the neighborhood.

Expert Tip

Take a spin on a bike or a set of skates along the Marvin Braude Coastal Bike Trail to liven up your beach vacation.

  1. Malibu Surfrider Beach

This mile-long stretch of coastal beauty is one of the best beach getaways from Hollywood, despite its diminutive size.

Why We Recommend This Beach

You’ll adore the beach’s wooden pier, which is great for selfies and saltwater fishing.

This retreat is a great place to go swimming because of its clear waters.

Of course, there are plenty of options for surfing, relaxing, and kayaking at the beach.

Expert Tip

Travel west to Malibu Lagoon, where you can spend some time examining the estuary’s lovely plantings of native California plants.

  1. Venice Beach

This popular beach, which stretches for 1.5 kilometers, draws tourists with its fine sands and lively culture.

Why We Recommend This Beach

For those looking to add some excitement to their calm beach getaway, Venice Beach is a vibrant paradise.

The well-known Venice Beach Boardwalk, where shops sell their wares, and street performers display their talents, can keep you occupied for hours.

On this beach, you can also skate, bike, watch basketball, or play volleyball.

Expert Tip

Get some of the greatest hot dogs in town at Jody Maroni’s Sausage Kingdom.

  1. Frank G Bonelli Regional Park

This San Dimas park will amaze you with its pristine sand beaches despite being 33 miles (53.11 km) from Hollywood’s glitz.

Why We Recommend This Beach

Looking for local lake beaches that are family-friendly?

Why not spend the day or the weekend at this San Dimas regional park?

It’s the most kid-friendly beach close to Hollywood, thanks to its shallow waters and staff of lifeguards.

It also has a ton of features that the whole team will enjoy.

Expert Tip

This 1,975-acre park offers more than just a family-friendly beach.

Explore this oasis and engage in a variety of leisure activities, such as horseback riding and hiking.

  1. Redondo County Beach

The 1.5-mile-long Redondo Beach paradise brims with undiscovered gems.

Why We Recommend This Beach

Locals and vacationers from Southern California who want to swim and surf flock to Redondo County Beach.

Not to mention, the retreat is a desirable location for cyclists and anglers who intend to access the Marvin Braude Coastal Trail.

Expert Tip

Take a stroll down the picturesque Redondo Beach Pier to take in the stunning ocean views.

Along the pier, there are also specialty stores, bars, restaurants, and activities.

  1. Dockweiler State Beach

This state beach in Playa Del Rey will offer you a strong dose of Vitamin Sea with its 3.75 miles (6.04 km) of sparkling shoreline.

Why We Recommend This Beach

This location is perfect for families and Roadtrippers because it has everything you need for a convenient and enjoyable beach day.

You can sprawl out on beach towels in the sand and enjoy a lunch in one of the designated picnic spots, which also allows bonfires.

It provides a range of water sports, including surfing.

Expert Tip

Take a hang gliding lesson on this public beach for a jolt of excitement.

Since the 1960s, this beach has attracted daring tourists looking for this kind of adventure.

  1. Manhattan County Beach

This seaside location, located near Manhattan Beach, has a 2-mile-long, wide sandy strip.

Why We Recommend This Beach

One of our favorite weekend beach getaways from Hollywood is Manhattan.

This beach is excellent for sunbathing and is great for families. It also has a ton of sand volleyball courts.

It also features a pier where a plethora of beach events are held in the summer.

Expert Tip

Spend some time exploring the Roundhouse Marine Studies Lab and Aquarium when you are at the pier.

Public access is free, and there are some interesting displays there.

  1. Hermosa City Beach

This 1.5-mile waterfront, which is owned by the city of Hermosa Beach, is situated alongside the stunning Santa Monica Bay.

Why We Recommend This Beach

Everything you need for a relaxing seaside getaway is available at Hermosa City Beach.

This beach’s brilliant sand stretch makes it ideal for sunbathing and sandcastle construction.

Swimming, beach volleyball, boogie boarding, and surfing are great activities you may enjoy there.

Expert Tip

The Strand, which parallels the shoreline, is a great place to take a leisurely stroll.

Visit the Hermosa Beach Historical Society as well to learn more about the beach’s history and culture.

  1. Zuma Beach

One of the best and most beautiful beaches in the LA area is this 1.8-mile-long retreat in Malibu.

Why We Recommend This Beach

Praised by both visitors and residents, this beach is week known for its plenty of parking, spectacular surf, and convenient access to seaside food.

The beach also includes numerous restrooms and lifeguard stands.

Expert Tip

A cornucopia of delectable food is available at Trancas Country Market, which is located at the north end of the beach.

  1. El Matador State Beach

This tiny Malibu beach will take you on an astonishing waterfront experience. Spectacular rocky outcrops dominate it.

Why We Recommend This Beach

Without this breathtakingly untamed beachfront marvel, no list of the greatest beaches close to Hollywood, California, is complete.

El Matador is Southern California’s most beautiful beach, even though it’s not your traditional beachside hangout.

You’ll want to take a ton of pictures at this beach because of the breathtaking rock formations and ocean views.

Expert Tip

You’ll be hiking a steep gravel trail, so wear proper footwear.

You should also bring your beach towels, sunscreen, and picnic supplies since this location lacks amenities and services.

About Us

The Edvocate was created in 2014 to argue for shifts in education policy and organization in order to enhance the quality of education and the opportunities for learning afforded to P-20 students in America. What we envisage may not be the most straightforward or the most conventional ideas. We call for a relatively radical and certainly quite comprehensive reorganization of America’s P-20 system.

That reorganization, though, and the underlying effort, will have much to do with reviving the American education system, and reviving a national love of learning.  The Edvocate plans to be one of key architects of this revival, as it continues to advocate for education reform, equity, and innovation.
