Mississippi, also referred to as the Hospitality State of the United States, will give you a trip to remember.

This state offers something for everyone thanks to its pristine waters, countless stretches of shoreline, and countless activities.

Are you eager to organize your upcoming family vacation?

Not sure where to begin?

We have your back!

For you to include some of the top family-friendly beaches in Mississippi in your next beach vacation plan, we went ahead and listed them.

  1. Gulfport Beach — Gulfport

Gulfport Beach’s sandy coastlines are home to several popular activities, including paragliding, boating, and others.

Why We Recommend This Beach

Families who appreciate soft, white sand beaches with a wide variety of activities should not miss Gulfport Beach.

With its own Sheriff’s Beach Patrol patrolling the area, this beach is one of Mississippi’s safest.

This beach is typically never crowded, so you can pick a location to enjoy with just your family if that doesn’t sound alluring.

If you’re seeking a place to stay and want to make the trip more comfortable, a couple of the greatest family hotels in Mississippi are available close by, including The Guest House at Gulfport Landing.

Expert Tip

Gulfport Beach should unquestionably be on your list of the best toddler-friendly beaches because of how shallow the water is.

  1. Ship Island — Gulfport

Enjoy a chance ferry journey to Ship Island’s stunning shores across dolphin-filled waters.

Why We Recommend This Beach

With many boat trips, nature walks, and island pubs to keep the whole tribe entertained, Ship Island is one of Mississippi’s top family beach holiday destinations.

Building sandcastles is a breeze on the smooth white sands, and swimming or simply enjoying the ocean lapping at your feet.

Expert Tip

Alligators and other island wildlife may be visible up close, so keep an eye out for the red flags park rangers have placed; those are approved locations for bird nesting as well!

  1. East Beach — Ocean Springs

The East Beach in Ocean Springs can be the perfect destination for you if you’re seeking family-friendly activities in Mississippi.

Why We Recommend This Beach

East Beach’s kid-friendly coastline may be modest, but it’s a good spot to launch a kayak into deeper water and go fishing.

Along with being a well-liked beach for relaxing, it is also close to renowned art galleries, which can make for an intriguing journey after your reviving swim.

Expert Tip

Because upscale restaurants and food options border East Beach, you won’t have to deal with the inconvenience of bringing and cooking food.

  1. Biloxi Beach — Biloxi

To enjoy the scenery of Biloxi Beach’s seafront, stroll along the shoreline or hire a beach buggy.

Why We Recommend This Beach

With its shallow waves and accessibility for children of all ages, Biloxi Beach is one of Mississippi’s most beautiful family-friendly beaches.

This beach is a good area for the whole family to unwind and enjoy because there aren’t many people.

A brief trip to this beach offers a welcome respite from the bustling cities, thanks to its clear shoreline and crisp air.

Expert Tip

Because there are many seagulls on the beach, be careful not to bring too much food.

The tern areas the villagers built for all the local birds to nest in are another must-see on the beach.

  1. Bay St. Louis Beach — Bay St. Louis

Family holidays in Mississippi wouldn’t be complete without a peaceful stroll along the stunning shoreline of Bay St. Louis Beach, whose waters sparkle in the sunlight.

Why We Recommend This Beach

The Bay St. Louis Beach is ideal for families seeking wonderful picnic areas, quiet beaches, and less crowded areas.

Its picturesque shores surround various real seafood restaurants, homes, and antique stores for a fun family outing.

Expert Tip

If you’re driving, don’t be afraid to stop by because parking spaces are very accessible here.

  1. Horn Island — Horn Island

A list of Mississippi beaches wouldn’t be complete without taking in the calm and beauty of Horn Island’s serene beach and surrounding natural beauty.

Why We Recommend This Beach

I advise tribes looking for an off-the-grid experience to visit this beach.

The sound of the waves lapping on the shore—no high skyscrapers, loud traffic, or air pollution.

Along with the beautiful environment, you’ll be able to see the island’s native fauna up close because it has been beautifully protected.

Expert Tip

Since you can only get to the island by boat, you might as well pack a tent and spend the night there for a tranquil overnight experience.

  1. Front Beach — Ocean Springs

The Front Beach will provide fantastic images to take home and overlooks an amazing panoramic view of the Mississippi Sound and the Gulf of Mexico.

Why We Recommend This Beach

The Front Beach is the ideal location for weekend family vacations in Mississippi.

This dog-friendly beach has plenty of opportunities for swimming and fishing, and if your family enjoys quiet and shallow seas, this beach is the ideal location. Fishing boat restaurants and line the long stretch of shorelines.

Expert Tip

The park and restroom facilities are easily accessible thanks to a pathway that stretches from the shore.

  1. Harrison County Sand Beach — Gulfport

The Harrison County Sand Beach is described as being well-maintained and having stunning landscapes, as naming just a couple of adjectives.

Why We Recommend This Beach

This beach comes highly recommended by me if you’re searching for a location to camp out with cool waters and wonderful sand quality.

This family-friendly beach town has surprises up its sleeve in the morning and at night, thanks to its stunning environment.

This beach’s long and wide shoreline is lined with bonfire pits, making it the ideal place to enjoy some s’mores with the kids while stargazing at night.

Expert Tip

Harrison County Sand Beach provides several accessible facilities and buildings for everyone to enjoy the beach.

  1. Ross Barnett Reservoir — Ridgeland

The Ross Barnett Reservoir offers a range of activities in addition to being a source of pure water, giving you plenty of opportunities to spend time with the kids.

Why We Recommend This Beach

The Ross Barnett Reservoir is a fantastic fishing spot for families with young children and teenagers.

Several fishing boats are housed in this reservoir, and because of the region’s incredible diversity, they can bring you fantastic catches.

The reservoir is lined by some of the most fantastic seafood restaurants and specialties Mississippi offers, and the abundance of fish in the lake contributes to this.

Expert Tip

Numerous leisure parks that take pride in their picturesque trails and elaborate trees and flora are located close to the Ross Barnett Reservoir.

So this beach is a great choice if you like hiking after a refreshing plunge.

  1. Pass Christian Beach — Pass Christian

The Pass Christian Beach, also known as the Birthplace of Yachting in the South, welcomes visitors with its smooth white sand and clear, refreshing waves.

Why We Recommend This Beach

Among the best beaches in Mississippi for kids, the wide and clean shores of Pass Christian Beach are perfect for sand activities like beach volleyball, bonfires, and sandcastle building.

It is a perfect spot if you also want to teach the little kiddos how to bike.

Glide through the soft and large area of Pass Christian Beach and get a breath of fresh air.

Expert Tip

One of the greatest ways to enjoy one of Mississippi’s top family beaches is to remain a bit longer and take in the breathtaking sunsets that line Pass Christian’s horizon while taking advantage of everything this beach offers.

About Us

The Edvocate was created in 2014 to argue for shifts in education policy and organization in order to enhance the quality of education and the opportunities for learning afforded to P-20 students in America. What we envisage may not be the most straightforward or the most conventional ideas. We call for a relatively radical and certainly quite comprehensive reorganization of America’s P-20 system.

That reorganization, though, and the underlying effort, will have much to do with reviving the American education system, and reviving a national love of learning.  The Edvocate plans to be one of key architects of this revival, as it continues to advocate for education reform, equity, and innovation.
