Why Immersive Learning Is Important in Corporate Training

In addition to Memory: A Contribution to Experimental Psychology by Herman Ebbinghaus, numerous studies suggest that you forget 70% of what you read in a day and 90% of what you read within a month.

This is true if the applied learning/studying method uses just one sense or strategy. This is one of the reasons big enterprises are investing more money in immersive experiences with the idea of stimulating knowledge retention.

Forgetting: What Is It All About?

The first thing you need to know is that forgetting is not a bad thing. Our brain can distinguish the information that is useless from what we actually need, such as what we learn during employee training.

This is where immersive tech comes into play. It is one of the many reliable and effective methods for creating a learning ecosystem that focuses and engages the individual.

If you ask any education professional what the many critical aspects of effective learning are, the answer would probably be that material be presented in a practical way that holds the learner’s attention and can be repeated numerous times. That is where VR, AR, and MR become invaluable substitutions to traditional learning methods.

Implementing Immersive Learning

Among the challenges for both employers and employees is how to ensure the effective implementation of immersive learning techniques. The two main cons of doing so are the hardware cost and the adaptation that is part of the process of switching from traditional to contemporary learning techniques.

Still, this tech holds massive potential for a personalized approach, which is the main reason why the public considers it to be the next big thing in corporate training.

There are very practical applications of VR in enterprises that can ensure an ideal customer encounter, such as connecting hundreds of employees situated at different locations to see the same factory and switch roles by becoming a client instead of a service giver.

Anytime, Anywhere, Anyone

With the COVID-19 pandemic, and the fact that global businesses hire employees from all over the world, the accessibility of VR, AR, and MR is one of the key arguments for investing in it.

It doesn’t matter where you are currently located. Additionally, training can be repeated at any time to review any interesting or missed details in the immersive presentation.

Conclusion
There is no doubt that immersive corporate training will be the most popular method in a few years. It can be less affordable than other options, but when you consider the numerous benefits related to outstanding knowledge retention, as well as increased employee engagement, it is a cost that comes with a lot of value.

About Us

The Edvocate was created in 2014 to argue for shifts in education policy and organization in order to enhance the quality of education and the opportunities for learning afforded to P-20 students in America. What we envisage may not be the most straightforward or the most conventional ideas. We call for a relatively radical and certainly quite comprehensive reorganization of America’s P-20 system.

That reorganization, though, and the underlying effort, will have much to do with reviving the American education system, and reviving a national love of learning.  The Edvocate plans to be one of key architects of this revival, as it continues to advocate for education reform, equity, and innovation.
