Spread the love

Back to school season can be an exciting time for students and teachers alike. As a way to spread some joy and creativity, why not try painted rocks? This simple yet fun activity can bring a smile to anyone’s face. Here are some painted rock ideas that you can use to add a little extra happiness to the start of the school year.

1. Inspiring Quotes: Paint rocks with words of encouragement and inspiration. You can use phrases like “You’ve got this!”, “Believe in yourself”, or “Dream big”. Place these rocks in the schoolyard or hand them out to students as a reminder of their potential.

2. School Mascots: Show off your school spirit by painting rocks with your school mascot. Whether it’s a lion, eagle, or bear, these colorful rocks can be displayed around the school or given as a souvenir during orientation events.

3. Alphabet Rocks: Help younger students with their alphabet recognition by painting rocks with letters of the alphabet. They can use these rocks to practice spelling their names or forming simple words. It’s a fun and interactive way to learn!

4. Subject Rocks: Create rocks that represent different subjects like math, science, or art. Use symbols or images associated with each subject and display them in the corresponding classrooms or in the school library. It’s a great way to showcase the importance of each subject in the curriculum.

5. Bookworm Rocks: Encourage reading by painting rocks that resemble bookworms. Add some colorful stripes or googly eyes to make them even more adorable. Place these rocks in the school library or hand them out to students as a reminder to keep reading.

6. Friendship Rocks: Paint rocks with friendly messages like “Best friends forever” or “Spread kindness”. Give these rocks to students and encourage them to pass them along to someone they appreciate. It’s a wonderful way to promote friendship and inclusivity.

7. Positive Affirmations: Paint rocks with positive affirmations such as “You are enough” or “You are loved”. These rocks can be placed in common areas like the cafeteria or the guidance office, where students can see them and feel uplifted.

Remember to use non-toxic paint and sealant when decorating the rocks. You can also encourage students to participate by organizing a rock-painting event or contest. By spreading a little back to school joy with these painted rock ideas, you can create a positive and welcoming environment for everyone. Let the creativity flow and have fun!

About Us

The Edvocate was created in 2014 to argue for shifts in education policy and organization in order to enhance the quality of education and the opportunities for learning afforded to P-20 students in America. What we envisage may not be the most straightforward or the most conventional ideas. We call for a relatively radical and certainly quite comprehensive reorganization of America’s P-20 system.

That reorganization, though, and the underlying effort, will have much to do with reviving the American education system, and reviving a national love of learning.  The Edvocate plans to be one of key architects of this revival, as it continues to advocate for education reform, equity, and innovation.
