It is truly said that teachers shape the future of a nation. Their untiring efforts often go unnoticed and unappreciated. However, in times of crisis, like the ongoing pandemic, the importance of their role has gained new recognition. To acknowledge and celebrate the teachers’ dedication, Reese Witherspoon’s fashion brand Draper James has stepped up to express its gratitude in a unique way.

The brand recently announced that they will be giving away free dresses to hardworking teachers as a token of their appreciation. This kind and generous gesture have garnered much attention and admiration from fans, as well as the teaching community.

Founded by Reese Witherspoon in 2015, Draper James is a lifestyle brand that seeks to embody her southern roots and personal style. Its collections boast classic, feminine, and versatile staples for contemporary women.

The initiative was revealed on the label’s official Instagram account starting with the caption “Dear Teachers.” It went on to explain that during these challenging times, there is an enormous amount of pressure on educators to adapt and support their students thorough online classes amidst uncertainty. The post further mentioned that the brand was inspired by Witherspoon’s own grandmother – Dorothea Draper – who was a lifelong teacher herself.

To receive a free dress, interested teachers need to fill out an online form with their details including their school email address and home address. Once verified by Draper James, chosen participants will receive a free dress from a selection of pieces while supplies last. The initiative has been met with an overwhelming response from teachers nationwide who appreciate this heartfelt gesture.

The Draper James’ gesture is not just about giving away fashionable clothing; it goes beyond that. It is about recognizing and valuing the tireless efforts of educators who continue to shape young minds through uncharted territory. As a result, this initiative has struck a chord with many people who appreciate the importance of honoring those who play such a vital role in our society.

The act of generosity by Reese Witherspoon’s Draper James serves as a reminder that even small acts of gratitude can go a long way. It brings to light the significance of acknowledging and supporting the ones who continue to work hard for shaping the betterment of our future, our beloved teachers.

About Us

The Edvocate was created in 2014 to argue for shifts in education policy and organization in order to enhance the quality of education and the opportunities for learning afforded to P-20 students in America. What we envisage may not be the most straightforward or the most conventional ideas. We call for a relatively radical and certainly quite comprehensive reorganization of America’s P-20 system.

That reorganization, though, and the underlying effort, will have much to do with reviving the American education system, and reviving a national love of learning.  The Edvocate plans to be one of key architects of this revival, as it continues to advocate for education reform, equity, and innovation.
