Overview of Pratt Institute Admissions

Pratt Institute, which accepts just over half of applicants, has a selective admissions process over mean SAT/ACT scores and GPAs. Students whose SAT/ACT scores and GPA are within the institution’s requirements have a good chance of being admitted. Applicants should complete an online application and send test scores from either the SAT or ACT and high school transcripts. Students with unique talents and accomplishments can still receive strong consideration even if their GPAs are outside of the mean range. After applying, students will receive a message from an admissions counselor about the application process’s next steps.

Admissions Data

During the 2018-19 admissions phase, Pratt Institute had an acceptance rate of 51%. For every 100 students who submitted applications, 51 students gained admission, making Pratt’s admissions process competitive.

SAT Requirements and Scores

During the 2018-19 admissions process, 66% of students provided SAT scores. This admissions data reveals that most of Pratt’s students score within the top 35% nationally on the SAT. 50% of students admitted to Pratt scored between 520 and 620 on the evidence-based reading and writing section, while 25% scored under 520, and 25% scored over 620. 50% of students scored between 530 and 690 on the math section, while 25% scored under 530, and 25% scored over 690. Applicants with a cumulative SAT score of 1310 or higher will have particularly competitive chances at Pratt Institute.

ACT Requirements and Scores

During the 2018-19 admissions process, 25% of students provided ACT scores. This admissions data reveals that most of Pratt’s students score within the top 22% nationally on the ACT. The median 50% of students admitted to Pratt received a cumulative ACT score between 25 and 30, while 25% scored over 30, and 25% scored under 25.

About Us

The Edvocate was created in 2014 to argue for shifts in education policy and organization in order to enhance the quality of education and the opportunities for learning afforded to P-20 students in America. What we envisage may not be the most straightforward or the most conventional ideas. We call for a relatively radical and certainly quite comprehensive reorganization of America’s P-20 system.

That reorganization, though, and the underlying effort, will have much to do with reviving the American education system, and reviving a national love of learning.  The Edvocate plans to be one of key architects of this revival, as it continues to advocate for education reform, equity, and innovation.
