MURFREESBORO, TN – The air crackled with a mix of anticipation and excitement as students from across Middle Tennessee gathered at Middle Tennessee State University for “MTSU Mondays,” a program designed to bridge the gap between high school and college life.

This summer, the program has seen record numbers of participants, a testament to its growing popularity among aspiring college students.

“We are thrilled with the response to MTSU Mondays,” said Dr. [Insert Name], Associate Provost for Enrollment Management. “This program offers a unique opportunity for high schoolers to experience what it’s like to be a Blue Raider, and it helps them get a head start on their college journey.”

A taste of college life:

MTSU Mondays gives high school students a chance to:

Explore academic programs: Students can attend interactive sessions with faculty in their chosen fields of study, gaining insights into different career paths.

Get familiar with campus resources: From financial aid to student life, participants learn about the various support systems available to them at MTSU.

Connect with current students: Mentorship plays a key role in the program, allowing high schoolers to build relationships with current MTSU students and ask questions about their experiences.

The program culminates in a celebratory “March to the Blue Raider Stadium,” where students join their future peers in a symbolic march toward their college aspirations. This visual spectacle serves as a powerful reminder of the journey ahead.

Summer grads ready to embark:

The excitement of MTSU Mondays is amplified for those who have already graduated high school and are now ready to embark on their college journey.

“It’s surreal,” said [Insert Name], a recent graduate who will be attending MTSU in the fall. “I’ve been coming to MTSU Mondays for the past two years, and now I’m finally here, ready to start my classes.”

[Insert Name], a future engineering major, added: “MTSU Mondays helped me feel prepared and excited for college. I already know some of my professors and have friends who are also starting here. It’s a great community.”

Beyond the program:

The impact of MTSU Mondays extends beyond the program’s duration. It builds a sense of belonging for future Blue Raiders and equips them with the knowledge and support they need to thrive in their college years.

As the summer comes to an end, MTSU is poised to welcome a new wave of students – many of whom will have experienced the transformative power of “MTSU Mondays.” The program stands as a testament to the university’s commitment to fostering a seamless transition from high school to college, setting the stage for a bright future for all its students.

About Us

The Edvocate was created in 2014 to argue for shifts in education policy and organization in order to enhance the quality of education and the opportunities for learning afforded to P-20 students in America. What we envisage may not be the most straightforward or the most conventional ideas. We call for a relatively radical and certainly quite comprehensive reorganization of America’s P-20 system.

That reorganization, though, and the underlying effort, will have much to do with reviving the American education system, and reviving a national love of learning.  The Edvocate plans to be one of key architects of this revival, as it continues to advocate for education reform, equity, and innovation.
