Maurice Gipson to Lead Philander Smith University in Little Rock, Arkansas
Little Rock, Arkansas – Philander Smith University (PSU), a historically Black college in Little Rock, has appointed Dr. Maurice Gipson as its new president, effective July 1, 2023. Dr. Gipson, a seasoned academic leader, comes to PSU from his role as Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs at Philander Smith’s sister institution, Clark Atlanta University. His extensive career includes leadership positions at various universities, including serving as Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences at the University of the District of Columbia.
