Introduction:

The Nintendo Switch has become one of the most popular gaming consoles in recent years, offering versatility and convenience for gamers of all ages. While many enjoy using the traditional Joy-Con controllers for gameplay, some users may prefer to use a keyboard and mouse for certain games. In this article, we will discuss how you can connect a keyboard and mouse to your Nintendo Switch and enhance your gaming experience.

Step 1: Obtain necessary components

First, it is essential to acquire the following:

– A compatible keyboard and mouse (either wired or wireless)

– A USB hub (if necessary) with enough ports to accommodate your accessories

– A USB-to-USB-C adapter (some USB hubs come with integrated adapters)

Step 2: Connect the USB hub

To connect multiple USB devices to the Switch dock, a USB hub is required. Simply plug the USB hub into one of the available USB ports on the side of the Switch dock. If your USB hub requires external power, ensure that it is connected to a power source.

Step 3: Connect your keyboard and mouse

Now that your USB hub is connected, plug in your keyboard and mouse (either via wired or wireless receiver) into the available ports on the USB hub. If you are using a wireless keyboard or mouse with Bluetooth capabilities, make sure they are connected using the included dongle.

Step 4: Navigate to system settings

Turn on your Nintendo Switch and select “System Settings” from the home screen. Scroll down to “Controllers and Sensors,” and then click on “Pro Controller Wired Communication.” Enable this setting by selecting “On.” This will allow your Nintendo Switch to communicate with wired peripherals such as keyboards and mice.

Step 5: Adjust controller settings (optional)

If you would like to customize controls for specific games, navigate back to “System Settings,” choose “Controllers and Sensors,” and select “Change Button Mapping.” This will allow you to configure button assignments for your keyboard and mouse to better suit your gaming preferences.

Conclusion:

Connecting a keyboard and mouse to your Nintendo Switch can enhance your gaming experience and provide greater control over certain games. Follow the steps above to set up your peripherals and enjoy an elevated level of play. Remember, not all games support keyboard and mouse input, so be sure to research game compatibility before investing in additional hardware. Happy gaming!

About Us

The Edvocate was created in 2014 to argue for shifts in education policy and organization in order to enhance the quality of education and the opportunities for learning afforded to P-20 students in America. What we envisage may not be the most straightforward or the most conventional ideas. We call for a relatively radical and certainly quite comprehensive reorganization of America’s P-20 system.

That reorganization, though, and the underlying effort, will have much to do with reviving the American education system, and reviving a national love of learning.  The Edvocate plans to be one of key architects of this revival, as it continues to advocate for education reform, equity, and innovation.
