Introduction:

Have you ever typed a message, realized you’d rather not send it, and want to delete it before hitting the send button? Whether it’s a text to your ex late at night or an email hastily written in anger, undoing an unsent message can save you from potential embarrassment and maintain your privacy. In this article, we will discuss how to delete unsent messages on your iPhone.

Step 1: Cancel Text Messages

1. Open your iPhone’s Messages app.

2. Locate the conversation where you have typed the unsent message.

3. Tap on the text field containing the unsent message you want to delete.

4. If the keyboard appears, tap on the screen outside of the text field to dismiss it.

5. Gently tap and hold on the unsent message to reveal additional options.

6. A menu will pop up above the message bubble, providing different options such as “Copy,” “More…,” etc.

7. Choose “More…” and then select “Delete Message” or just swipe left on the bubble and tap “Delete” to remove the unsent message.

Step 2: Cancel Email Messages

1. Launch the Mail app on your iPhone.

2. Compose or locate an email draft with an unsent message that you want to delete.

3. If you are currently in draft editing mode, tap on “Cancel” located in the top left corner of your screen.

4. A menu will appear asking if you want to save or discard your draft; choose “Delete Draft” to
remove it completely.

Step 3: Cancel iMessage Stickers or Reactions

1. Open Messages app on your iPhone.

2. Find a conversation where you are about to send an iMessage sticker or reaction.

3. Press and hold the sticker or reaction until additional options appear.

4. Release your hold and slide your finger to “Cancel” or “Delete” without lifting it off the screen.

5. The sticker or reaction will be removed from the conversation, preventing it from being sent.

Conclusion:

Deleting unsent messages on an iPhone can be a digital life-saver when you have second thoughts about a message you’ve composed but haven’t yet sent. By following these simple steps, you can maintain control of your communications and avoid sending potentially embarrassing or unwanted messages. So the next time you find yourself in such a situation, remember these easy steps to help you keep your conversation history clean and your privacy intact.

About Us

The Edvocate was created in 2014 to argue for shifts in education policy and organization in order to enhance the quality of education and the opportunities for learning afforded to P-20 students in America. What we envisage may not be the most straightforward or the most conventional ideas. We call for a relatively radical and certainly quite comprehensive reorganization of America’s P-20 system.

That reorganization, though, and the underlying effort, will have much to do with reviving the American education system, and reviving a national love of learning.  The Edvocate plans to be one of key architects of this revival, as it continues to advocate for education reform, equity, and innovation.
