Introduction

Interactive whiteboards have revolutionized education, offering new and engaging ways for students to learn. One of the most effective uses of this technology is to introduce learning games designed specifically for interactive whiteboards. These games not only captivate students’ attention but also improve their understanding and retention of essential skills and knowledge. This article explores some of the best learning games available for the interactive whiteboard.

1. BrainPOP

BrainPOP offers a vast collection of educational games, animated movies, quizzes, and activities covering various subjects such as science, social studies, math, and English. The wide range of resources from BrainPOP allows teachers to tailor the content to their lesson plans and adapt it to different age groups, making it an excellent resource for any interactive whiteboard-enabled classroom.

2. Kahoot!

Kahoot! has taken classrooms across the globe by storm with its fun and competitive quiz-based learning system. Teachers can create custom quizzes on subjects ranging from history to mathematics to assess students’ knowledge in a fun and engaging manner. The interactive nature of the platform not only encourages active participation but also fosters healthy competition among students.

3. JeopardyLabs

JeopardyLabs helps educators create web-based Jeopardy-style quiz games without downloading any software. This platform allows teachers to customize their content or browse through thousands of pre-made game templates that cover various subjects and topics. Students can then compete against each other in teams or individually on the interactive whiteboard.

4. ClassFlow

ClassFlow is a versatile platform that enables educators to create interactive lessons for use on their whiteboards. Teachers can design lessons that incorporate various multimedia elements such as videos, images, text, and even assessments. The platform allows students to interact with content directly on the board, enhancing engagement and collaboration during lessons.

5. Quizlet Live

Quizlet Live turns traditional study materials, such as flashcards, into interactive multiplayer games that can be played on an interactive whiteboard. Teachers can create custom study sets or access millions of pre-existing ones to engage students in cooperative learning exercises. Quizlet Live not only helps students master essential material but also encourages teamwork and communication skills.

Conclusion

The widespread adoption of interactive whiteboards in classrooms provides teachers with the opportunity to create innovative, engaging, and effective learning experiences for their students. By incorporating these five great learning games into their lesson plans, educators can transform their classrooms into dynamic and exciting learning environments that encourage active participation, collaboration, and mastery of essential skills and knowledge.

About Us

The Edvocate was created in 2014 to argue for shifts in education policy and organization in order to enhance the quality of education and the opportunities for learning afforded to P-20 students in America. What we envisage may not be the most straightforward or the most conventional ideas. We call for a relatively radical and certainly quite comprehensive reorganization of America’s P-20 system.

That reorganization, though, and the underlying effort, will have much to do with reviving the American education system, and reviving a national love of learning.  The Edvocate plans to be one of key architects of this revival, as it continues to advocate for education reform, equity, and innovation.
