Many children work diligently throughout their high school careers to be accepted into their college of choice. However, when applying for law school, you will need more than good grades to be considered a potential candidate.

This is where the LSAT comes in. Most law schools require their students to complete this test as a part of the admissions process. It is a critical component in terms of whether or not a particular student will be accepted or not.

In this article, we will be discussing everything that there is to know about the LSAT, including what it entails and when it should be taken. More so, we will mention what the average grade of this test is.

What Is The LSAT?

The LSAT (Law School Admission Test) is often described as an entrance exam to a law school. This test is always set as a multiple choice paper and changes seven times per year.

As we have already mentioned, law schools will consider your LSAT grade, your high school certificate, and your GPA. In other words, you cannot simply do well on your LSAT and expect to be accepted. However, it is essential to note that many law schools weigh the LSAT grade just as heavily as they do your GPA.

Obviously, the higher your score on this test, the better your chances of being accepted into the law school of your choice. For this reason, you must prepare properly before taking this exam.

What Is On The LSAT?

The LSAT contains four main sections:

  • Logical reasoning (also known as arguments)
  • Analytical reasoning (also known as logic games)
  • A Reading comprehension
  • A writing sample

On top of this, the exam will also contain an unscored experimental section.

LSAT General Information

You have the opportunity to take this test 7 times a year. With that being said, you must book your spot well in advance, as only a limited number of students can write at once. The exam lasts roughly three and a half hours.

With this test, you can score anywhere between 120 and 180 (180 being the best possible grade). The average mark obtained by students is 151, meaning that you should receive at least this grade to be considered.

Concluding Thoughts

The LSAT is a test that students have to take to be considered for law school. This exam takes place seven times a year and is roughly three and a half hours long. Your GPA and high school certificate are also considered by law schools.

About Us

The Edvocate was created in 2014 to argue for shifts in education policy and organization in order to enhance the quality of education and the opportunities for learning afforded to P-20 students in America. What we envisage may not be the most straightforward or the most conventional ideas. We call for a relatively radical and certainly quite comprehensive reorganization of America’s P-20 system.

That reorganization, though, and the underlying effort, will have much to do with reviving the American education system, and reviving a national love of learning.  The Edvocate plans to be one of key architects of this revival, as it continues to advocate for education reform, equity, and innovation.
