Introduction:

Gaming enthusiasts are always on the lookout for innovative ways to enhance their gaming experience. One such method is connecting your Nintendo Switch Joy-Cons to your iPad and iPhone. In this article, we will guide you through the process of connecting these devices, offering tips and tricks for a more enjoyable gaming session.

Why connect Joy-Cons to your iPad or iPhone?

The Nintendo Switch Joy-Cons are compact, versatile controllers that provide a comfortable and engaging gaming experience. By connecting them to your iPad or iPhone, you can take advantage of a larger screen and improved performance. This connection will enable you to play various iOS games or even enjoy some Nintendo Switch games using an emulator app.

Steps to connect Joy-Cons to your iPad or iPhone:

1. Update your device: Ensure that your iPad or iPhone is updated to the latest version of iOS (13.0 or later). To update, go to the “Settings” app, scroll down to “General,” tap “Software Update,” and initiate the process if an update is available.

2. Turn on Bluetooth: On your iPad or iPhone, navigate to the “Settings” app, tap “Bluetooth,” and ensure it’s toggled on.

3. Prepare Joy-Cons: On both Joy-Con controllers, press and hold the small sync button located between the SL and SR buttons until their respective LED lights begin flashing in a rotating pattern.

4. Pairing process: With the LED lights flashing on each Joy-Con controller, they should appear as separate devices in the Bluetooth menu on your iPad or iPhone. Tap each one individually (labeled as Joy-Con L/R) under “Other Devices” in the Bluetooth settings to connect.

5. Confirmation: You’ll notice a quick vibration from each controller once connected, indicating that they are now paired with your device.

6. Additional software (optional): For a greater selection of compatible games, you can download a controller-supported game emulator app, like Moonlight or Dolphin iOS, that allows you to access Nintendo Switch games and other gaming options.

7. Enjoy gaming: Now that your Nintendo Switch Joy-Cons are connected to your iPad or iPhone, you can explore and enjoy various games that support external controllers. Keep in mind that not all iOS games are compatible with external controllers; therefore, it’s best to do some research beforehand to find suitable options.

Conclusion:

Connecting your Nintendo Switch Joy-Cons to your iPad or iPhone not only enhances your gaming experience but also provides more flexibility and convenience. By following the steps mentioned above, you can enjoy a unique gaming session on your iOS devices with the comfort and ease of using Joy-Con controllers. Happy gaming!

About Us

The Edvocate was created in 2014 to argue for shifts in education policy and organization in order to enhance the quality of education and the opportunities for learning afforded to P-20 students in America. What we envisage may not be the most straightforward or the most conventional ideas. We call for a relatively radical and certainly quite comprehensive reorganization of America’s P-20 system.

That reorganization, though, and the underlying effort, will have much to do with reviving the American education system, and reviving a national love of learning.  The Edvocate plans to be one of key architects of this revival, as it continues to advocate for education reform, equity, and innovation.
