Allen University is a four-year, private institution situated in Columbia, South Carolina. Allen is a historically black college associated with the African Methodist Episcopal Church. The institution is named after Richard Allen, the founder of the African Methodist Episcopal Church. The institution is home to roughly 819 students with a student/faculty ratio of 13:1.
