Growing up, I was surrounded by the voices that told me STEM wasn’t for people like me. As a Black male, I was discouraged from pursuing a career in science, technology, engineering, or math. But I knew deep down that wasn’t true. I was fascinated by the world around me, eager to understand how things worked. That passion, coupled with the belief in myself, became the fuel for my journey.

My path wasn’t always easy. The lack of representation, the whispers of doubt, and the systemic barriers that kept me from seeing myself in STEM professionals were constant reminders of the uphill battle. But I found mentors, teachers, and programs that nurtured my curiosity and pushed me to excel. I sought out communities where I saw reflections of myself – Black scientists, engineers, and mathematicians who were paving the way.

Today, my passion for advancing Black males in STEM fuels my work. I advocate for increased access to quality STEM education, mentor young minds, and challenge the narrative that limits their dreams. I understand the importance of representation, the power of a role model, and the impact of a supportive community.

My journey isn’t just about personal success. It’s about opening doors for others, about creating a future where every Black male who has a passion for STEM has the opportunity to thrive. It’s about breaking down barriers, fostering inclusion, and ensuring that the next generation of Black STEM leaders are equipped to change the world.
