Considering a family vacation from San Diego?

San Diego is a short drive from several excellent family resorts.

These resorts may provide a memorable family holiday thanks to their prime beachside locations and exciting kid-friendly amenities.

Check out these top family resorts around San Diego, California, to help you make the best decision for your children.

  1. Omni Rancho Las Palmas Resort and Spa

Who should stay here

Families yearning for a luxurious and unwinding holiday in Southern California will find Omni Rancho a wonderful 240-acre paradise.

It provides a variety of activities for people of all ages, as well as comfortable, immaculate housing.

Children will be in heaven at the resort’s sizable indoor waterpark.

A lazy river and 100-foot water slides are just a few kid-friendly activities at the waterpark.

Additionally, the resort offers kid-focused activities, including interactive games and craft classes.

Distance from San Diego

San Diego is only two hours away from the resort.

We advise taking the I-15 from San Diego for a quicker and more practical journey.

The trek is 139.1 miles long and takes 2 hours and 10 minutes to complete.

  1. LEGOLAND California Hotel

Who should stay here

Our preferred family-friendly getaway is LEGOLAND, which is close to San Diego, California.

This resort’s vibrant rooms and family-friendly features will astound you even if you’re not a serious Lego collector.

Additionally, it provides quick access to some of the region’s best family-friendly activities.

For children aged 2 to 12, the resort is the ideal family destination.

I promise that your kids will love exploring the SEA LIFE aquarium and LEGOLAND Water park.

It also features entirely decorated rooms for kids and an outdoor pool.

Distance from San Diego

The distance from San Diego to this top-rated family resort is about 35 minutes (34.2 miles) via I-5 N.

Some families consider it a perfect substitute for some of the family resorts in San Diego due to its handy location.

  1. Terranea Resort

Who should stay here

For kids ages 2 to 12, Terranea offers a Tide Pool Adventure Camp.

The camp offers half-day activities like stargazing, superhero dressing-up, science experiments, and treasure hunts.

We adore the resort’s additional family-friendly features, like its three swimming pools and eco-enrichment programs.

The resort also has an award-winning golf course for parents.

Distance from San Diego

Simply take I-5 and I-405 north of San Diego to get to the resort.

The trip is 131.6 miles long and takes 2 hours and 4 minutes to complete.

  1. The Waterfront Beach Resort

Who should stay here

This kid-friendly resort’s Mediterranean and Italian accents will delight your Instagram-obsessed tweens.

Additionally, the resort offers various kid and teen-friendly activities, including two dining establishments and an outdoor pool with water slides.

Although we advise it for older children, the resort is also ideal for families with young children.

In reality, the resort provides nannies or babysitters for parents who wish to visit the adjacent beach.

Distance from San Diego

Via I-5 N, the resort is located 94.4 miles from San Diego.

The trip to the resort will take about one and a half hours.

  1. Omni La Costa Resort & Spa Carlsbad

Who should stay here

Omni Las Costa is a well-liked, charming, family-friendly hotel close to San Diego.

The resort evokes the feeling of a small SoCal town with its expansive grounds and a vast array of services. It also offers a range of lodging choices to accommodate families of all sizes.

Kids can play under adult supervision in the resort’s Kidtopia club while parents indulge in on-site spa services.

The resort also has a beach-like, child-friendly pool with a trio of waterslides.

Distance from San Diego

This top-notch family resort is very near, so you don’t have to travel far.

You can reach the resort 32 minutes from San Diego by taking I-5 N. (30.7 miles).

  1. Hyatt Regency Huntington Beach Resort and Spa

Who should stay here

A beach lover’s paradise, the Hyatt Regency.

You may walk to Huntington Beach from this hotel when you stay there.

The resort also provides paddleboarding and surfing classes, ensuring that your family’s holiday is both enjoyable and informative.

The resort also offers several on-site food establishments, spa facilities, and outdoor swimming pools.

This resort is more suitable for tweens and teenagers, in my opinion.

The shuttle service to the theme parks should not be missed as it is one delight for the entire family.

Distance from San Diego

I-5 N can be used to travel there by car.

The trek is 94.4 miles long and takes 1 hour and 26 minutes to complete.

  1. La Quinta Resort & Spa

Who should stay here

La Quinta is a sizable, all-inclusive resort that welcomes families.

The resort has ten golf courses, seven restaurants, and more than 30 pools.

The nicest part is that it features a kids’ club for youngsters between the ages of 4 and 12.

We also appreciate that their bikes have child seats.

Additionally, it is less expensive than other California oceanfront resorts.

Distance from San Diego

La Quinta is one of the top family resorts less than three hours from San Diego.

I-15 travels 128.2 miles from San Diego.

The journey to the resort takes two hours and twenty minutes.

About Us

The Edvocate was created in 2014 to argue for shifts in education policy and organization in order to enhance the quality of education and the opportunities for learning afforded to P-20 students in America. What we envisage may not be the most straightforward or the most conventional ideas. We call for a relatively radical and certainly quite comprehensive reorganization of America’s P-20 system.

That reorganization, though, and the underlying effort, will have much to do with reviving the American education system, and reviving a national love of learning.  The Edvocate plans to be one of key architects of this revival, as it continues to advocate for education reform, equity, and innovation.
