Overview of Juilliard School Admissions

The Juilliard School, widely considered the best performing arts conservatory in the nation, has a highly competitive admissions process with a low acceptance rate. Juilliard usually admits 24 students in dance and 8 to 10 undergraduates for acting per year. The largest number of students are admitted to the music department, and the level of competition varies depending on the department or program. Some areas such as voice, piano, and violin pre-screen applicants before they are invited to audition. Since Julliard is a performing arts school, keep in mind that the audition and interview are the most important parts of the admissions process. Interested students should check out the university’s website, which has helpful tips and contact information for the admissions offices.

Admissions Data

During the 2018-19 admissions cycle, The Juilliard School had an acceptance rate of 8%. For every 100 students who submitted applications, 8 students gained admission, making Juilliard’s admissions process highly competitive.

About Us

The Edvocate was created in 2014 to argue for shifts in education policy and organization in order to enhance the quality of education and the opportunities for learning afforded to P-20 students in America. What we envisage may not be the most straightforward or the most conventional ideas. We call for a relatively radical and certainly quite comprehensive reorganization of America’s P-20 system.

That reorganization, though, and the underlying effort, will have much to do with reviving the American education system, and reviving a national love of learning.  The Edvocate plans to be one of key architects of this revival, as it continues to advocate for education reform, equity, and innovation.
