As schools across the country prepare for their daily assemblies, March 12, 2026 has brought forth a wealth of significant news spanning education, national stability, and international relations. This roundup is designed to keep students informed and engaged with pressing issues affecting their lives and the world around them.

Education Spotlight: Supreme Court’s Order on NCERT Textbooks

One of the most pivotal education-related developments this week stems from the Supreme Court of India. The court has issued a directive regarding the National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) textbooks, particularly focusing on a controversial chapter that addresses judicial corruption.

In its ruling, the Supreme Court has mandated that the NCERT reassess all school textbooks, with particular attention to this chapter. The controversy arose after concerns were raised about how judicial corruption was portrayed, prompting the court’s involvement to ensure educational content is both accurate and appropriate for students.

The Centre has confirmed its commitment to reviewing these textbooks, highlighting the importance of providing students with a well-rounded and factual understanding of judicial processes and ethics. This decision not only affects current students but also sets a precedent for future educational materials.

National News Highlights: Fuel Supply and LPG Cylinder Reassurances

In national news, the Indian government has reassured citizens regarding the stability of the fuel supply amid growing concerns over energy shortages. Authorities have confirmed that there will be no disruptions to the supply of LPG cylinders, a critical resource for households across the country.

The government has emphasized that the current stock levels are sufficient to meet the demands of the population, alleviating fears that had emerged in light of fluctuating global energy prices. This announcement comes at a time when many families are preparing for a transition into the warmer months, when cooking and heating needs typically increase.

Officials have urged consumers to remain calm and informed, reinforcing that the government is closely monitoring the situation and is prepared to take necessary actions to ensure continued access to energy resources.

International Developments: Canada’s Energy Support to India

On the international front, India has received a significant offer from Canada amidst ongoing energy supply concerns stemming from geopolitical tensions in the Strait of Hormuz. Canada has proposed to supply liquefied natural gas (LNG) and oil to India, a move that could bolster India’s energy security during a time of uncertainty.

This offer is particularly relevant as tensions in the Strait of Hormuz have raised alarms about potential disruptions to global oil supply chains. By engaging in this partnership, India aims to diversify its energy sources and reduce dependency on any single nation or region for its energy needs.

Canadian officials have expressed their commitment to strengthening bilateral ties with India, particularly in the energy sector, and are optimistic that this collaboration can lead to mutual benefits for both countries.

Sports News: A Glimpse at Upcoming Events

In the realm of sports, excitement is building as various events approach. Students can look forward to major tournaments that not only showcase athletic prowess but also foster sportsmanship and teamwork.

  • Cricket: The upcoming series between India and Australia promises thrilling matches, with both teams eager to prove their dominance.
  • Football: The Indian Super League is gearing up for its climax, with local teams battling for the championship title.
  • Olympics: As the next Olympic Games approach, athletes are ramping up their training regimens, eager to represent India on the world stage.

These events not only provide entertainment but also serve as a source of inspiration for students to engage in sports and physical activities themselves.

Conclusion: Staying Informed and Engaged

As students gather for their school assemblies, the news from March 12 serves as a reminder of the interconnectedness of education, national policies, and international relations. Understanding these developments is crucial for fostering informed citizens who can contribute positively to society.

With a focus on education, national stability, and international cooperation, this news roundup encourages students to stay informed and engaged with the world around them, shaping a brighter future for all.

About Us

The Edvocate was created in 2014 to argue for shifts in education policy and organization in order to enhance the quality of education and the opportunities for learning afforded to P-20 students in America. What we envisage may not be the most straightforward or the most conventional ideas. We call for a relatively radical and certainly quite comprehensive reorganization of America’s P-20 system.

That reorganization, though, and the underlying effort, will have much to do with reviving the American education system, and reviving a national love of learning.  The Edvocate plans to be one of key architects of this revival, as it continues to advocate for education reform, equity, and innovation.
