Back in the Fall of 1996, I started my quest to become a teacher. However, the biggest obstacle that I faced was not the coursework, but figuring out how I would pay for my education, without being saddled with a boatload of debt. I found a small scholarship for teacher education majors, but it just wasn’t enough. I ended up taking out a few loans, and thankfully it was enough to finance my education.

Many years later, I started to find out about all of these scholarships for teacher education majors and was floored. I wish I would have been privy to this information, but my journey began before Google was even invented. No worries, I won’t cry over spilled milk, but I will try to help the next generation of teachers enter the field without a mountain of debt.
