1. Why High School Choice Matters

Choosing the right high school is a pivotal decision in a student’s academic journey. It shapes their educational experience, influences their college prospects, and even impacts their social development. In New Jersey, a state known for its robust education system, the options available can be overwhelming. Families must consider factors like academic performance, school culture, extracurricular activities, and resources.

High schools in New Jersey often employ various methods to improve student outcomes, including advanced placement (AP) courses, honors programs, and diverse extracurricular activities. Research from the National Center for Education Statistics highlights that students in academically rigorous environments tend to have better academic outcomes and higher college enrollment rates. Therefore, understanding which schools excel in these areas is crucial for parents and students alike.

2. Criteria for Ranking the Best High Schools

About Us

The Edvocate was created in 2014 to argue for shifts in education policy and organization in order to enhance the quality of education and the opportunities for learning afforded to P-20 students in America. What we envisage may not be the most straightforward or the most conventional ideas. We call for a relatively radical and certainly quite comprehensive reorganization of America’s P-20 system.

That reorganization, though, and the underlying effort, will have much to do with reviving the American education system, and reviving a national love of learning.  The Edvocate plans to be one of key architects of this revival, as it continues to advocate for education reform, equity, and innovation.
