Deciding which college to attend can be a daunting task. For many, it will be the most important decision that they make in their lives. To make an informed decision, you have to consider a lot of variables, such as cost of attendance, financial aid, student/teacher ratio, academics, student life, and more. These factors will either positively or negatively impact the quality of education that you receive.

Well, if you are as ambitious as I was in my late teens, then you want to attend a top school, instead of an average or mediocre one. Fortunately, we have already done the legwork for you. To help you find the right school for your interests and goals, we’ve compiled a list of 2022’s best master’s in sociology programs.

1. University of Wisconsin – Madison, Madison, WI

This school’s degree program awards master’s and doctoral degrees and enables learners to research with experienced sociology professors. The Department of Sociology requires both graduate classwork and a learner thesis paper to obtain a graduate degree. Graduate learners must also finish a minor degree program in an area outside the field of sociology.

2. Stanford University in San Francisco, San Francisco, CA

Part of the School of Humanities and Sciences, the Department of Sociology awards a co-terminal master of arts in sociology and PhD in sociology. Undergraduates admitted to the co-terminal master’s degree program can finish the master’s degree soon after finishing with a bachelor’s degree. Then, learners may take advantage of the various PhD programs that Stanford has to offer.

3. Florida State University, Tallahassee, FL

FSU has a one-year professional degree program leading to a master’s degree in applied social research. It also has a traditional master’s degree program and a traditional doctoral degree program, both of which offer concentrations in demography, health, and aging, and inequalities and social justice.
