Encourage children to look for flowers, plants, and other animals that might resemble those in Beatrix Potter’s stories. Discuss the importance of nature and the environment as they observe the beauty around them.

Garden Planting: Growing a Rabbit’s Garden

Create a small garden where children can plant vegetables and flowers that Peter Rabbit loves. Consider planting carrots, lettuce, and radishes, which can help teach kids about gardening and where their food comes from. They can keep a journal to track the growth of their plants.

Organize a treasure hunt inspired by Peter Rabbit’s escapades. Hide small toys or treats around your backyard or a local park, and provide clues related to the stories. This activity promotes teamwork and problem-solving skills as children work together to find the hidden treasures.

Nature Crafts: Creating Art from the Outdoors

Collect natural materials like leaves, twigs, and flowers during a nature walk and use them for arts and crafts projects. Children can make collages, nature crowns, or even Peter Rabbit-inspired puppets, encouraging creativity and appreciation for the environment.

Educational Activities: Learning Through Play

Nature Journals: Observing and Learning

Introduce the idea of nature journals where children can draw or write about their observations during outdoor activities. This encourages creativity and helps them develop observational skills while learning about the environment.

Animal Studies: Discovering Real-Life Rabbits

About Us

The Edvocate was created in 2014 to argue for shifts in education policy and organization in order to enhance the quality of education and the opportunities for learning afforded to P-20 students in America. What we envisage may not be the most straightforward or the most conventional ideas. We call for a relatively radical and certainly quite comprehensive reorganization of America’s P-20 system.

That reorganization, though, and the underlying effort, will have much to do with reviving the American education system, and reviving a national love of learning.  The Edvocate plans to be one of key architects of this revival, as it continues to advocate for education reform, equity, and innovation.
